Your Vote Matters: Help Choose the 2022 People's Choice Winner
What does an award directly chosen by one's peers mean to a company? Quite a bit! It's the recognition of hours of hard work and business ingenuity and carries significant prestige and bragging rights. That prestige only increases when the award is the 2022 People's Choice at an event geared toward innovation in business.

This Thursday, we will honor innovation in business at our Mid-Atlantic Innovation Celebration Awards. While the 2022 Innovators of the Year have been selected by our panel of expert judges, the 2022 People's Choice Award will be chosen live after all innovations have been presented to the event's attendees who will include this year's judges and finalists, regional leaders, and members of our business community.

Representing vastly different industries and business types, each of the 2022 finalists submitted innovations critical to their business models and, in some cases, the world at large. We're impressed with their work and can't wait to crown the winners!

Join us on May 12th for the Mid-Atlantic Innovation Celebration Awards to celebrate innovation within our business community and cast your vote for this year's People's Choice winner!

Submit Your Goodwill Stories by June 10th for Our Positively NOVA! Summer Issue
Our Chamber member community has proven its generosity time and again through donations and give-back efforts, and we want to showcase that good work in both our upcoming Positively NOVA! summer edition and our website. Help us spread goodwill vibes by letting us share your story with the world! Send a 2-3 paragraph write-up, at least one photo from the effort, and your logo to communications@novachamber.org by June 10th for inclusion in this special issue.
Healthcare Panel Details Workforce Challenges In Industry
For those who were unable to attend the Healthcare in the Region event at the Chamber last week, you missed a stellar conversation. Ruth Williams-Brinkley, Regional President of Kaiser Permanente, went deep into the challenges of building and retaining the country’s healthcare workforce following the pandemic.
Her colleagues on the panel from Inova, CareFirst and Cigna took the conversation further and urged business leaders to pay close attention to team members’ mental health during this challenging (and hopefully) end phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. Panelists answered the question, "what should businesses be doing now to prepare for the next big challenge in healthcare," here.

Vaccination Requirement: Upon review of both the CDC guidance on community levels of COVID-19 and its website listings showing our own Northen Virginia counties' positive case percentages, the Chamber has removed its proof of COVID-19 vaccination requirements. Additionally, the Chamber will no longer require masks be worn. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. 
 
As always, if you are sick or feel you are getting sick, we ask that you please stay home.
 
The Chamber will continue to follow COVID-19 guidance from local health departments and the CDC for in person events.

  • How you can engage a broad spectrum of employees
  • How the Chamber's advocacy efforts and communications can support your business

and much more. This will be a great opportunity to network with other new members.

2022 Mid-Atlantic Innovation Celebration
May 12th | 6-9PM | AMC Tysons Corner 16 Theatres
Join us on May 12th for the party of all parties, the Mid-Atlantic Innovation Celebration. We’ll gather to watch the finalist videos together and applaud their work before we announce, at long last, the 2022 Innovator of the Year. You’ll also have the opportunity to be part of the judging panel as all attendees will vote for their favorite Innovation. The winner of the attendee vote will be crowned the People’s Choice! This event is open to the public, so grab your tickets early as we’re expecting this Celebration to sell out!
Northern Virginia Workforce Network - May

Are you interested in finding innovative solutions to our region’s workforce challenges? Please join us for the inaugural meeting of the NOVA Workforce Network on May 24th. The NOVA Workforce Network is an inclusive and collaborative community of workforce professionals and others interested in workforce innovation. Monthly meetings held on the 4th Tuesday of each month. All are welcome to attend.

The event honors the leaders and legends of the government contracting community. Presented by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Professional Services Council (PSC).

Join this exciting new cohort for GovCon CEOs who are transitioning from small to large and learn from leaders whose companies have successfully made the transition. We will help you created your graduation plan based on insight from CEO peers and facilitated by Newport Consultants. The cohort will meet one morning each month over a 6-month period.
