We are currently living through unprecedented business times that have seen forced closures and historic stimulus packages. Keeping track of what resources are available to our members has been--and will continue to be--a Chamber priority. We have created the following topic-specific information centers to help our members navigate these many resources. Each is listed and linked below.
Last week Congress passed a massive spending bill aimed at curbing the economic crisis brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. The Chamber has been working hard to keep you informed about this legislation, arranging calls with Gov. Ralph Northam, Reps. Gerry Connolly, Jennifer Wexton and Don Beyer, Sens. The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has ended the longest U.S. business expansion on record. Unlike prior business cycles, however, the Washington region’s economy is not disproportionately insulated from its effects. The effects will be most pronounced for service industries that rely on discretionary spending and those that have strong international ties, especially businesses that rely on international manufacturing.

The Stephen S. Fuller Institute at George Mason University recently completed a study analyzing the impact of COVID-19 on the Washington region’s economy. In this webinar you will hear from the author of the study, Jeannette Chapman, director of the Fuller Institute. The session will cover the industries most heavily affected by the pandemic, the anticipated impact of the crisis on economic output, and factors to consider on the recovery side.

You will also hear from Alex Iams of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) on local, state and federal resources available to help businesses affected by the coronavirus emergency.

The Northern Virginia Economic Development Alliance, which includes the Fairfax County EDA and the economic development organizations from nine other jurisdictions in Northern Virginia, is pleased to present this webinar with the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

The Fairfax County Area Agency on Family Services wishes to thank Cox Charities VA for its recent $10,000 donation. This donation will be used for our programs like Meals on Wheels and creating hygiene kits for our older adults and is particularly timely as our clients are at high risk of the virus and currently unable to go out to purchase groceries and hygiene items.
