Introducing the Greater Washington Apprenticeship Network
As business leaders, we are constantly seeking out ways to hone our workforce while strengthening employee loyalty and retention rates. One solution to this never-ending business challenge is to incorporate an apprenticeship program where we can impart key skills and train workers in our own methods and techniques. There is ample evidence that investments in apprenticeship programs lead to business financial rewards, but the biggest advantage may be their ability to help develop the kind of workplace the 21st-century workforce expects: diverse, inclusive, collaborative, and innovative.

In October of 2020, great minds at Accenture, Aon, and the Northern Virginia Chamber recognized the many advantages such a program will deliver to our community, and, working together, we created The Greater Washington Apprenticeship Network on the model of the highly successful Chicago Apprenticeship Network. Our mission is to help employers in the Region explore and develop a demand-driven apprenticeship program of recruitment and training.

The Greater Washington Apprenticeship Network brings together employers, academic institutions, public and private sectors. Employers will gain access to best practices from organizational peers, sources of prospective apprentice candidates, support services, academic institutions, and training resources. As a bonus, apprenticeships offer an opportunity to “earn and learn,” meaning that employees receive needed on-the-job training while still earning a living.

We invite you to join us at our first monthly meeting on April 6th. Chamber membership is not required and the event is free to all. Register here.
