What's special about our "State Of" event series? If you're in business within Northern Virginia, the answer is quite a bit!
Every year, the Chamber hosts a variety of events and member engagement opportunities that range from small-group networking to large-scale annual award shows. While all of our events provide our members with professional development and quality speakers, none are quite like our "State Of" series. This unique series focuses on major policy issues discussed by C-suite level business leaders and public sector policymakers.

What makes our State Of series events special? Each event in the series provides an exclusive, intimate dialogue with leading industry voices and often high-level, public sector leaders and appointed or elected government officials. That these events allow our members to interact with those driving policy and change within an industry cannot be oversold; our State Of events are an opportunity to take a deep dive into the most important issues facing Northern Virginia business leaders today.

The first of the 2021 series, the Annual State Of Healthcare in the Region, is coming up on April 15th at 9AM and is free for Chamber members. We are thrilled to host the President and CEO of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Brian Pieninck, who will lead off the event with a keynote speech on health equity. The all-star panel that follows him includes Lawrence Hamilton, Chief Operating Officer Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic; Christina Stasiuk, Market Medical Executive – Mid-Atlantic Region Cigna; Chapy Venkatesan, MD, MS, FACP, Chief Quality and Safety Officer Inova Health System; Maria Harris Tildon, Executive Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. The panel will be moderated by Jen Siciliano, Chief External Affairs Officer at Inova Health System.
 
Later this year, we will continue the series with the State Of Transportation and the State Of Economic Growth. These two events typically feature state and regional leaders who provide data-rich and engaging information on the challenges and opportunities in Northern Virginia, the DC Metro region, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Be on the lookout for details on these two events later this spring!

In partnership with Aon and Accenture, the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce Foundation invites you to attend the Greater Washington Apprenticeship Network’s next employer briefing. The Greater Washington Apprenticeship Network is an employer-focused, demand-driven network of employers in the region interested in exploring, building, and expanding the earn and learn approach to recruiting and training employees. At this meeting, you will learn more about the Network and begin to connect with other employers as well as apprenticeship resources available for employers in our region.

After a year that has had a monumental impact on the world's economy and our health, it's no surprise that many of us are experiencing at least a little personal stress. The question is, will the stress we've experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic have a long-term impact on our health? Join us for a discussion around the significant--and likely lasting--mental health impacts of the pandemic with a focus on how to stay resilient in these uncertain times. Cigna's Market President, Monica Schmude, will lead our discussion.
