Pastor's Update

Hi Parkway People!

Months ago, the decision was made that Parkway's sermon series in the run-up to the election would focus on division, rather than avoid it or pretend it doesn't exist. Through the weeks I have heard from people who do not think or vote alike who say they've grown by learning about how 'the other side' might think through a problem.

And while the information might be helpful or ground us in the heat of a disagreement, each week's goal has been to point beyond the politics of now - so that we might see ourselves and Parkway as people who might disagree, but are still called to do good in divided times.

Take a quick scroll through the upcoming ways you can plug into Parkway and our work of doing good, demonstrating God's grace, and inspiring hope in the season ahead:

Trunk or Treat is THIS SUNDAY, October 27th!

From 3.00 - 4.00pm the Parkway parking lot will be full of decorated trunks, costumes, and candy! I'm looking forward to seeing what your themes are this year! (Reminder: You can pick any theme you want, just nothing intentionally scary or gory.) Trunk or Treat is one way we can meet new neighbors and have a presence here in New Territory.

If you've been meaning to donate candy and it keeps getting away from you, your last chance to get it here is Sunday! We can use all the candy you can bring!

Also this Sunday - Pizza with the Pastors

Pizza with the Pastors is a great time for people new-ish to Parkway to take the next step of plugging in and making Parkway their official church home. We'll cover the pizza, all you have to do is register HERE!

New 'Families with Kids' Grow Group will meet this Friday, October 25th, 6pm at the home of Dante and Jodi Peduzzi.

It's a laid back time of getting to know other families with kids at Parkway. It's a new group with the goal of being a regular community to grow with, no matter how long you've been at Parkway or where you are in your journey of faith.

If you'd like to join in this Friday, respond to this email to RSVP and I'll make sure you have the right address!

Check out a New Way to Serve:

Child Advocates of Fort Bend Sip and Stroll, October 29th, from 5.30 - 7.00pm

Learn about child advocacy work and ways you can be a part of helping victims of child abuse. This introduction and tour of the Davis Geroge campus (5403 Avenue N, Rosenberg, TX 77471) is free - all you have to do is RSVP to Lisa at lmoore@cafb.org.

Questions? Your Parkway contact is Shawn Quinn at syquinn@yahoo.com.

Parkway's Family Promise Week is coming up on November 3rd - 9th

Several times a year, we provide meals for families that are working towards safer, more stable housing. If you, or your Grow Group can provide one of these meals, you can learn more and sign up HERE!

The Second Mile Donation Truck will be at Parkway on Sunday, November 10th, 9am-1pm

Donations of furniture, clothes, household supplies, and any quality item that you might be saving for a garage sale you don't really want to do is welcome! Second Mile will get that in the hands of a family in need here in Fort Bend County through their many programs and initiatives. Questions? Your Parkway contact is Kevin Johnson at kjoh2018@gmail.com.

Also, on November 10th - Save the Date for 'What's Next for Parkway'!

After the Second Service, I'll host a time in the Worship Center called 'What's Next For Parkway.' It will be a time when everyone is invited to hear about exciting possibilities for Parkway in 2025 and a vision for the future. There will also be an open Question and Answer time where you can ask me anything.

As you can see, there is still plenty of need for doing good in divided times. We're pushing forward with our call to demonstrate God's grace and inspire a hope-filled journey with Jesus.

I hope you'll join in!

Justin
