On Monday we held our first monthly Membership Meeting of the year. Members had a lot of questions for DC Auditor, Kathy Patterson who presented on recently completed audits and ongoing work. We also heard from two of Dupont's ANC Commissioners, Mo Pasternak and Kyle Mulhall along with Joe Florio, the Mayor's liason for Ward 2 (our apologies to Joe who was cut short by the webinar tech's failed internet connection!). We look forward to hosting the neighborhood's other commissioners at future meetings so that members can continue to get direct communication and information from the leader representing them.
Members were also sent an early bird registration opportunity for the upcoming Information Series on homelessness in Dupont.

DCCA Information Series: Homelessness in Dupont Circle
|
|
Thursday Evening Series
Feb 11 - March 25
7:30 - 8:30 PM
Online
The DCCA is hosting a 6 session series on the issues facing people without children who are experiencing chronic homelessness in the Dupont neighborhood. The sessions will cover topics ranging from the structural problems in DC’s housing market and social safety nets that are leading to an increase in homelessness, the individual challenges of mental health and substance abuse, the impact of COVID, the costs of addressing the issue more effectively and the very particular difficulties faced by people of color, women and LGBTQ youth.
The intention is that each of the topics is examined in a practical way so that those participating in the discussions will leave with the information that they need to help, to campaign for change and to support progress towards ending homelessness. The overall objective is to have a better informed community - a community that is better positioned to lobby or take action on the basis of facts.
The sessions will be conducted online by Zoom. Click here for more detail on topics, speakers and to register for the discussion series.
