Vice Chairman of the FDIC Board of Directors, Travis Hill, Kicks-off the Spring 2024 Fairfield Dolan Dean’s Executive Forum

On January 24, 2024, The Charles F. Dolan School of Business welcomed, Travis Hill, the vice chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) board of directors to Fairfield Dolan Dean’s Executive Forum.

In a moderated discussion with Zhan Li, DBA, dean of the Dolan School of Business, Hill spoke on thought-provoking regulatory matters to a packed house at the Kelly Center. The discussion ranged from the historical context that led to the creation of the FDIC to insight into the contemporary issues facing our financial institutions and the FDIC. The evening concluded with an opportunity for Dolan students to meet and speak with Hill.

Hill has served in the vice chairman role since Jan. 5, 2023. Previously, he worked at the FDIC from 2018 to 2022 as deputy to the chairman for policy, and before that as senior advisor to the chairman. In these roles, among other responsibilities, he oversaw and coordinated regulatory and policy initiatives at the agency, and advised the chairman on regulatory and policy matters.

Fairfield Dolan MBA Concentrations Gain STEM Designation

The fall 2023 semester marked a significant milestone for the Charles F. Dolan School of Business as the MBA program concentrations of finance, marketing, and analytics received official STEM designation.

Having received university-wide approval, this designation diversifies the MBA program as a whole. STEM designation gives international students at Fairfield Dolan a three-year post-graduate U.S. residency window to attend optional practical training (OPT). Previously, students were offered a one-year visa extension for OPT.

As stated by associate professor and MBA program director Mousumi Bose Godbole, PhD, STEM designation makes Fairfield Dolan’s MBA program competitive and enriched with benefits for prospective students.

“A customizable curriculum, cutting-edge education, flexible course schedule, highly ranked concentrations, and the ability to utilize the benefits of OPT, make our MBA attractive to both domestic and international students,” said Dr. Bose Godbole.

In fall 2023, O’Donnell entered Dolan’s Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program and described it as a unique blend of academic development, hands-on learning, and mentorship.

“What sets this program apart, besides its curriculum, is the support and guidance provided by the faculty within the Dolan School of Business,” said O’Donnell. “Their expertise, combined with a commitment to student growth, creates an environment that fosters both learning and personal development.“
