A Note from our PFA President, Dawn Sue-Dare
We are starting the "it's-the-end-of-the-year" holiday sprint...can you believe we have just 10 days of school left in 2019?

MAHALO to the following parents for their help with these important events in the month of November: Girl Scout Troops 1836 & 3606 (50/50 Halloween Candy Split) and Tricia DeTuno (Make-Up Picture Day).

Save the date for our Back-to-School Restaurant FUN-raiser on Monday, 1/6/20 ! Join your Dolphin friends & family at The Stand Calabasas for lunch or dinner, bring (or show) the flyer , and 20% of your bill will be donated back to the Bay Laurel PFA! What a great reason to get together with friends and catch up on what you did over Winter Break! :)

I am definitely looking forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming December PFA Meeting (happening this Tuesday, 12/10 @ 8:30AM in the MPR). Mark your calendar, because there will be representatives from LVUSD joining us to talk about the bond measure (coming to a ballot near you in March)!

Last, our PFA Elections are approaching in the spring! If you are interested in a board or chair position, please contact me directly!

Thank you all for making Bay Laurel such an amazing place for our kids!

GO DOLPHINS!

2019-20 PFA President

Counselor's Corner with Ms. Baldi
December 2019
Hi Bay Laurel Families!! This month our disposition is Collaborative Communities which is so important to stress upon our children. Humans are social creatures and we need healthy interactions for our physical and psychological well-being, our self-esteem, empathy and success. Studies have shown that positive interactions within communities strengthens our immune system and may even lengthen our lifespan. The many communities within our circles impact our feelings of connection and foster our growth and success, and when we work together, collaborate our ideas and strengths, we can create masterpieces.

Our children share a common school community, and most importantly, their classroom community, which is their path to learning how their contributions, attitudes and association impacts the greater whole. Our Bay Laurel teachers and staff members are always looking for ways to connect our students together, and encourage a positive and collaborative community.

No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it.” -H.E. Luccock

As we move into the busy holiday season, may you find joy in gathering with loved ones, and celebrating the wonderful communities that brighten our lives and make us stronger, happier and healthier. Remember to take care of yourself as you share in the warmth of the holiday season.

Thank you for stopping by the Counselor’s Corner. I look forward to working with your children and invite you to contact me with any questions, concerns, or thoughts. I am on campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am to 3:00pm, and Wednesdays from 9:00am to 12:30pm.

Thank you,
Cheryl Baldi
School Counselor
THANKS FOR A FUN NIGHT AT SPORTS FEST!
Thank you to everyone who came out to our 2nd Annual Sports Fest! Everyone had a great time eating, taking photos, and trying to beat their kids/parents in a variety of games lead by Coach Dante and his team. We couldn't have done it without our amazing parent volunteers! Thank you to the chairs for putting together a fabulous event: Krissy Freeman, Samantha Barnett, and Tricia DeTuno.
MONTHLY PFA MEETING ON TUE, 12/10 @ 8:30AM
Join us for our Monthly PFA Meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10th, from 8:30 to 9:30am in the MPR. We have two special guests who will provide an update on Bay Laurel and our district: Dr. Dan Stepenosky and Mrs. Jill Gaines.

We welcome all parents at this meeting! Come and get educated on our school happenings, and hear about our upcoming school events, too!
NEW TOY DRIVE IN MORNING CAR LINE THRU FRI, 12/13
Lacey Bloom, a 4th grader in Ms. Kodama's class here at Bay Laurel, is a Junior Girl Scout in Troop 10016 and she is working with Prince of Peace Homeless Outreach to bring a little bit of holiday joy to homeless children. She will be collecting brand new toys for homeless children in morning car line (there will also be a collection box in the office) through Friday, 12/13/19 ! These children MIGHT receive ONE holiday gift and ONE stocking stuffer. It is easy for each of us to make that minimum happen, and maybe even more. Let's help Lacey bring a bit of happiness to homeless kids this holiday season! Thanks for your participation.
"THE STAND" RESTAURANT FUN-RAISER ON MON, 1/6
Mark your calendars for our first 2020 restaurant FUN-raiser at The Stand in Calabasas . The Stand will be giving 20% back to Bay Laurel PFA for every dollar spent on Monday, January 6th from 11am-9pm . Just mention you are with Bay Laurel so they can count your purchase toward our fundraiser.

Bring your family, tell your friends, and let's all head over to The Stand on January 6th to help Bay Laurel and celebrate the first day back at school in 2020!

NEWS YOU CAN USE
The Bay Laurel PFA has several ways you can easily contribute to the many events and activities that we hold each year. Several of these require minor effort, yet can give our Dolphins big rewards. Here is a summary of the easiest ways you can help us by taking just a few small steps in the regular activities you do already.

Restaurant Fundraisers: Throughout the year, the Bay Laurel PFA joins forces with a variety of local eateries to hold community fundraising events we refer to as "Restaurant FUN-raisers". Make your next classroom get-together at one of our local restaurant fundraisers and eat dinner with your class! Unlike party book, these events are not limited to students of Bay Laurel and their families. We hope to gain the support of our surrounding community as well, so tell a friend or neighbor.

Box Tops: Download the app and just scan in your receipt after you go shopping. Any eligible products will be detected automatically by the app and you just enter Bay Laurel Elementary School as your identified school. It's easy and gives Bay Laurel money on products you are already purchasing no matter where you are shopping.

Ralphs Rewards: Ralphs Rewards is another program that automatically provides money back to Bay Laurel just by indicating Bay Laurel PFA as your organization affiliated with the Rewards card you probably already use. You can add Bay Laurel PFA by going to ralphs.com and adding a "Community Rewards" organization under your account.

Amazon Smile: With all of the holiday shopping going on right now, it's a good reminder to make sure you are using Amazon Smile when shopping on Amazon. Amazon Smile is their give-back program and can be accessed by using amazonsmile.com . You can designate Bay Laurel Elementary School Parent Faculty Association as the organization you wish to support. Amazon will then give back money based on what was spent to the PFA. Always start your Amazon order with Amazonsmile.

More information on all of these fundraising efforts can be found here on our Bay Laurel PFA website.
