A Word from our PFA President, Dawn Sue-Dare
February brought Bay Laurel a lot of things: Box Tops, our Teacher Drawing, our annual Talent Show, Literacy Week...and a LOT OF RAIN. :)

A special shout out to the following parents who helped coordinate some of the great events during the month of February! Mahalo... to Erin Mediuch for coordinating our 2nd Box Tops collection drive and classroom contest; to Debbie Buxer for coordinating our annual Teacher Drawing (and congratulations to all our winners!); to Bonnie Muler for stepping in to take over chairing our Talent Show (and to her fabulous crew: Alicia Weintraub, Carrie Waxberg, Colby Bekhor, Robin Feldman, and Vivien Avella ); to Alexis Arinsburg , Beth Jagtiani , Dana Kurzawa , and Lindsey Sivesend for all their hard work planning Literacy Week!

Thank you to all the families who came to show support during our February restaurant FUN-raiser at Fresh Brothers, and during our shopping fundraiser day at SANE Boutique !

I hope you'll join us at our evening PFA Meeting next week - Tuesday, March 12th, from 6:00-7:00 PM in the MPR! We always welcome new faces at our meetings -- we'd love to hear your ideas & feedback, and we are always searching for new volunteers to join our various committees or become chairs for our special events!

Don’t forget — our Barnes & Noble book fair code is still valid ONLINE through Saturday, 3/9/19! Shop B&N to support our school!

Have a great month! Go Dolphins!

Counselor's Corner with Ms. Carter
Hello Bay Laurel Families! One of our amazing campus supervisors, Ms. Larson had a fantastic idea on how to get our students more involved in celebrating the character trait of the month. Check this out:

Attention all TK-5th grade Bay Laurel writers!!!!! Here’s your chance to see your opinions and thoughts printed up in the newsletter for all your friends and family to see! Each month, there will be a quote that highlights an important character trait to our dolphin family. Let us know what that quote means to you or how we can apply it to our school. Submit your response to Mrs. Carter at by the end of the month. Please include your name, grade, and teacher. In addition, some entries will be selected to be read by the student during morning announcements and all entries will be read in the class of the student who submitted it. Ready...Set....Write!

This month’s character trait is: Positive Mindset
Inspirational Quote: “It always seems impossible until it is done” - Nelson Mandela
Parenting Tip: Share in your child’s excitement for the future! I am a strong believer in letting kids be kids and letting them play and build character through peer and adult interactions. As parents, you can use your child’s interests to help guide choices for enrichment and extracurricular activities. It is always a nice opportunity for a parent to talk to, listen to, and explore with your child their likes, hobbies, and what they would like to do or be when they are grown up.
Homework Tip: Focus on praising the effort. Check out this article that focuses praise on effort instead of talent or ability.
A reminder of upcoming events through Community 360:
March 23 rd – Community 360 Conference. “How to Raise an Adult” with Keynote speaker Julie Lythcott-Haims.
April 1 st – Free movie screening “Angst” – Documentary on Anxiety

Please, always feel free to connect with me. I am on campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am to 3:00pm and Wednesdays from 9:30am to 1:00pm and can be reached by email, .
