A Note from our PFA President, Dawn Sue-Dare
|
|
It's March already?!? That means springtime is near (though our weather says "almost summer"), and loads of leprechaun T-R-A-P-S will be built!
MAHALO
to all of our Dolphin families who made it out for our
FIRST Annual Family Game Night
! I received a lot of positive feedback and it seemed like it was a super fun event for all the kiddos! We are already looking forward to next year!
I am looking forward to seeing our Dolphin parent community at our upcoming
March PFA Meeting
(happening Tuesday, 3/10 @ 8:30AM in the MPR). All parents are welcome to attend -- our special guest is Steve Scifres, Director of Curriculum & Athletics for LVUSD. He will be on hand to discuss the process for our new principal search, and will be discussing the role of parent input! We will also be reviewing the draft of our 2020-21 PFA event calendar and we love hearing new ideas and feedback on current PFA events!
I hope everyone will join us at the
City of Calabasas Arbor Day Celebration
! This year, the celebration will be taking place on our very own Bay Laurel campus, from 10:00AM - 12:00PM on Saturday, 3/7! Round up the kids and bring the family, because we're gonna play in the dirt! :) Take part in tree planting and campus beautification!
Our
PFA Elections
will be taking place next month. We are still looking for volunteers for various event chair positions in 2020-21...so if you're interested, please contact me or any of our board members directly!
Thank you all for making Bay Laurel such an amazing place for our kids!
GO DOLPHINS!

Counselor's Corner with Ms. Baldi
March 2020
|
|
Hi Bay Laurel Families! We will be celebrating one of my favorite dispositions this month which is Positive Mindset. Each day, we all can choose how we perceive every situation we are faced with, and it can have a ripple effect on our happiness, success, self-worth and a dramatic impact on those we love. A failure can either be looked at as dreadful, or an opportunity for growth. The more you view life through a positive lens, the more you receive in return. This world is full of challenges and many people find it easier to focus on the negative, however much of how we choose to see the world is a reflection of how we feel inside. Helping our children develop a positive mindset is imperative and one of the best gifts we can give them. Here is a great article about the effects of having a positive mindset:

MEASURE V NEEDS YOUR VOTE!
|
|
Dolphin parents,
Measure V needs your vote
! Please remember to get out and vote on Super Tuesday (March 3rd) to cast your vote. A "yes" vote for Measure V
will help address our most time-sensitive safety, security, and educational facility needs, including:
- Improving instructional technology to keep classrooms up to date.
- Upgrading science and engineering labs and career technical education facilities.
- Strengthening school safety, upgrading fire and disaster preparedness and emergency response systems.
- Repairing and replacing deteriorating roofs, plumbing, heating/air conditioning systems.
Remember, m
ost of our schools have reached a critical point in their life cycle, requiring significant improvements that the State of California
will not
fund.
