January Member Spotlight - Dr. Tisha Van Pelt
"I have been told that intern year is the most difficult year that a physician will overcome. Getting your notes done before rounds while answering pages is daunting enough without facing a world-wide pandemic, balancing the economic crisis, and fighting for social justice. We all find happiness in several different ways, and I wanted to share how I have found happiness through my many different families over this last year. The first family I want to tell you about is the dearest one to me."

Medical Learner Safety and Wellness during Pandemic Crisis
While originally adopted last April, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) board of directors recently updated Academy policy regarding Medical Learner Safety and Wellness During a Pandemic Crisis during its January meeting. The update emphasized the need to recognize medical students as essential members of the healthcare team that should be vaccinated during the earliest stage of any pandemic. The FAFP supports this policy and appreciates the contributions our over 1,500 medical student members have made during the COVID-19 crisis.
