According to recent research, 25% of men begin to lose their hair by the age of 30, and 50% lose their hair by the age of 50. What the research doesn't tell you is why men are losing their hair. In our opinion, the number one cause of hair loss in America is poor brick matches. Our team at Masonry Cosmetics would like to see better brick matches and fuller heads of hair all throughout the industry and the United States! The great news is, WE MADE BRICK MATCHING EASY. We taught the course on it! Check out our 1 hour, AIA accredited course if you haven't already! (details below)

Masonry Cosmetics and President Don Foster created the course on brick matching titled: "The Creativity of Brick Matching." In this one hour course, participants will observe a number of projects, in which matching was attempted and discover why some failed and others succeeded. Topics include selecting the right brick, making use of the physical brick-blending process, selecting a masonry coloring process, and specifying matching masonry in architectural plans.

Learning Objective 1:

Participants will be able to develop a workable plan to find brick that matches their needs if such brick is available.

Learning Objective 2:

Participants will be able to compare the pros and cons of masonry coloring systems and select the system that works best for any particular job.

Learning Objective 3:

Participants will be able to describe the factors that contribute to the many poor brick matches evident in repairs and additions to brick buildings.

Learning Objective 4:

Participants will be able to describe the mechanical brick blending process, and to design a plan to use that process to match a range of brick colors using more than one type of brick.

If you exhausted all of your options, and the donor brick that you found (closest in size, texture, and color) still does not provide an acceptable match to the homeowner or architect, do not worry! We are here to help! Both President and CEO of Masonry Cosmetics (Don Foster and Rick Conner) got their start by working in the brick plants and selling brick in the 1980's.

In 1994, Don and Rick founded Masonry Cosmetics with their years of experience of brick coatings and slurries to solve industry wide brick matching issues. In past newsletters, we have focussed on why brick are hard to match; in this newsletter, we want to focus on the solution. Today's solution is a network of 57 Certified Contractors using a "Proven Masonry Stain" that will never hurt or compromise the brick or mortar it is applied too. The "Proven Masonry Stain" system that these certified staining contractors are using is the same system we have been using since 1994. You can find comfort in knowing that there is 400+ proven case studies with before pictures (before the job was started), after pictures (after pictures from the same work area), and present day photos (photos 15, 20, or 30 years later from the same spot as the before & after picture) showing the field performance of the staining system.
