Waymo San Jose Expansion

The Chamber wrote a letter of support for Waymo’s pending expansion into San Jose. Waymo’s success in San Francisco has shown the potential for economic impact, generating nearly $40 million in city revenue and gaining widespread public use. Expanding into San Jose could deliver similar benefits, especially as the city prepares to host major global events like the Super Bowl and FIFA World Cup.

Workplace Surveillance Bills

The Chamber joined coalition letters opposing two workplace surveillance bills: AB 1331 (Elhawary) and AB 1221 (Bryan). AB 1331 poses security and safety concerns as the bill uses a broad definition of workplace surveillance tools and would prohibit employers from monitoring employees in private, off-duty areas. AB 1221 amends existing whistleblower protection laws through overly strict compliance for employers.

Excite Ballpark Renovations

Excite Ballpark will receive $20 million in upgrades, including a new clubhouse and batting cage, through a partnership between DBH Group and the City. The improvements will meet MLB standards and expand the stadium’s role as a community venue. The Chamber supports this investment as part of building a world-class sports and entertainment economy in San Jose.

Affordable Water through SB 473

The Chamber supports SB 473, which promotes water affordability by allowing utilities to decouple fixed costs from usage. This rewards conservation and helps low-use, often low-income, households pay less while higher-use customers pay more.
