This exhibit will feature paintings by emerging visual artist Blaise Vernyuy, from the Anglophone North-West Region of Cameroon.

It is the first time that Vernyuy's work is exhibited in the USA.

Blaise Vernyuy’s positive outlook on life pervades his brightly colored work. Rooted in the resilience he developed growing up in poverty and neglect, his art celebrates and depicts with tenderness people trying to make the most of their current situations despite the challenges they face. His characters take center stage on a meticulously detailed backdrop covered with geometric patterns which evoke the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the African continent. Vernyuy calls his unique style “Afro-Abstract Figurative.”

You may read more about Vernyuy's life and artistic approach here.

Vernyuy graduated in 2020 from the University of Bamenda, in Cameroon, with a BA in Visual Arts and Art History and First-Class Honors. His work has been showcased in solo exhibitions in Cameroon and Nigeria and is already featured in numerous collections.
