About the Virtual Party
Celebrate the magnificent lands of the Hudson Valley as we bring the party to you! From the fields and forests that blend into our towns to the rolling farmlands that define our community character, the endurance of our landscapes inspires and connects us all.

This year's "Celebrating Our Land" promises to be a fun-filled evening honoring some of the most stellar lands protected by Winnakee, while paying tribute to those who have dedicated themselves to bringing our communities closer to the land around us.

Our Party starts at the top of Burger Hill, then we share our successes of the year protecting new lands. You will enjoy fun food and music, wine, a photo and dance contest, special celebrity guests, and the evening concludes asking you to share in a virtual toast.

During the event, Winnakee will honor extraordinary agricultural leaders for their work to ensure access to farm-fresh foods for our community while enduring the many extraordinary challenges caused by the pandemic, and for their dedication to preserving the region’s farming legacy and rural heritage.

COMMUNITY FARMER OF THE YEAR
Van Lamprou, Del's Dairy Farm
This year Winnakee created the Community Farmer of the Year Award to honor a local farmer who demonstrated the spirit of civic-minded commitment to our communities, to conservation, and to the next generation. Van Lamprou and his wife Kim purchased Del’s Dairy Farm in 2017, made up of Guernsey and Holstein cows. Van also established Dutchess Creamery on site—blending old-fashioned farming with state-of-the-art technology that monitors the health of his cows. More recently, Van reopened Del’s Roadside, a treasured community meeting place that features locally sourced Hudson Valley foods and ice cream made from their own dairy. During the pandemic outbreak this spring, Van became a local leader, supporting the community by generously giving away close to 2,000 bottles of free milk. Wanting to do more, Van collaborated with Red Hook Responds and the Rhinebeck Reformed Church and continues to give away meals on Sundays, just recently hitting 5,000 meals given out to those in need. Van is an exceptional example of the entrepreneurial spirit that exists in agriculture here in the Hudson Valley, bringing innovative and meaningful ways for the community to connect and benefit from our region’s rural legacy.
INNOVATIVE FARM-TO-TABLE AWARD
Patricia Wind & Cliff Platt
The F2T Box / Farms2tables
Patricia Wind and Cliff Platt started a food revolution in 2014 when they created Farms2Tables, transforming the way local farm-fresh foods are marketed by directly connecting farmers with restaurants and grocery stores to deliver the highest quality farm products and freshness to consumers. In 2016, Patricia and Cliff received the Best New Product Award for their Farms2Tables app at the International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York. With a desire to ensure access to fresh, healthy, and local farm products for as many people as possible, they took the farm-to-table concept one step further in creating The F2T box delivered to people’s doorstep. Always based on what is local and in season, Patricia and Cliff offer the best farm products available for each box. This spring at the start of the pandemic, the community flocked to The F2T Box, which provided them assurance of safely delivered, fresh, locally sourced farm foods at a time when those comforts were greatly needed. Because the produce is never stored and always fresh, all excess produce is delivered to the Food Pantry at the Church of the Messiah as a part of their long-running work to bring high-quality food to those who face food insecurity. Winnakee proudly recognizes Patricia and Cliff with the Innovative Farm-to-Table Award for their revolutionary business model and personal passion to truly make a difference in connecting our communities to Hudson Valley working farms and local farm-fresh foods.
FEATURING CELEBRITY GUESTS
Hilarie Burton & Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Best known for their acting careers, Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are co-owners of the 100-acre Mischief Farm in Rhinebeck, NY, and the town’s beloved Samuel’s Sweet Shop. Hilarie is the author of The Rural Diaries, which made the NYT best seller list this summer and has captivated the nation in her inspiring chronicle of life on the farm with her family. The Morgans have become integral figures in Rhinebeck life, actively involved with Astor Services for Children & Families, committed to supporting our local businesses, and as leaders in the community’s response to the Covid-19 crisis. Winnakee is grateful to the Morgans for their participation in “Celebrating Our Land,” and for their dedication to maintaining the unique character of our community and our region’s working farm heritage.
