Easter Sunday

Sermon Title:

"Have You Read the Headlines Today?"

Sacred Text:

John 20:1-18

Worship (in-person and online):

11:45 AM

~~~~~~~~~
We hope you'll join us as this week, as we walk with Jesus from the Last Supper to the cross and his resurrection.
We'll gather on Maundy Thursday (April 6th) at 7 pm, as we celebrate the Last Supper that Jesus shared with his friends before he went to pray in the garden where he was betrayed by Judas.
Then we'll gather together again on Good Friday (April 7th) at 7 pm, and experience Jesus on the cross taking his final breath.
On Easter Sunday (April 9th) we gather together to celebrate our risen Savior! Death could not hold him. He is alive! Don't forget that our service starts at 11:45 am. We will have an Easter Bonnet contest at the end of worship. There will be a prize given for the best bonnet!
Refreshments in the Social Hall will be from 11-11:30 am on Easter Sunday. If your last name begins with M-Z, please bring some snacks to share!
We hope you won't miss any part of Holy Week. Experiencing every part of the story helps make the resurrection even more powerful.
**For those who would like to experience Stations of the Cross, we have been invited to attend St. Matthews Episcopal Church on Good Friday, starting at noon. St. Matthews is located at 738 Pinellas Point Dr. South.
A Word from Renae
As we enter the time when we remember the last days of Jesus’ earthly life, we look soberly at the path he walked. Being met with shouts of “Hosanna!” one day and “Crucify Him!” five days later is hard to imagine. Yet that is the reality of Holy Week.
I hope you will join us on Thursday for a participatory service with stations where you can reflect on your life and the places where you need to let go of what weighs you down, ask for forgiveness, and experience the cleansing of water.
On Friday we will read the crucifixion story and be reminded of what fear and hate can do. Our Tenebrae service will be a moving experience of what Jesus endured.
On Sunday we will celebrate our Risen Savior! Death and the grave could not hold him. He Is Risen!
I hope you will join us for these wonderful services that help us remember, appreciate, and celebrate who Jesus is for us.
Blessings,
Rev. Renae
You can find any regular updates from our Pastoral Search Team by clicking here or our website here.
Here is the most recent update from the Team:
The Pastoral Search Team met with their denominational liaisons, Rev. Cathy Alexander and Rev. Dexter Brecht, to review the packet. They gave feedback for a few key points of clarification, but praised our completed packet. There was good discussion about the path forward and the Pastoral Search Team was given encouragement for our role and responsibilities as the team looks forward to the interview process, once we establish our new space.
If you have any other questions for the Pastoral Search Team, you can email [email protected].
Take a few minutes each day this week to pray this prayer for our church, as we search for our next space:
God of Hope, we praise you for Your unfailing love and blessing over our lives and our church. Be our refuge and strength in this time of uncertainty. Guide us by Your Spirit to our next place of ministry, where we can have the most influence for You. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.
Upcoming Activities
This year, our Lenten Offering will go to support MCC's international global outreach. There are still many places around the world that need to hear the good news that MCC has to share, for God's love that is open to all people.
Bring your Lenten offerings to church this Easter Sunday morning, and be sure to write your name on it. This is a great way to show how generous of a church that King of Peace can be.
Come early this Sunday and buy some eggs for our Easter Eggstravaganza! Eggs are 3 for $5 or 8 for $10. You have the possibility of winning a $50 gift card, a $25 gift card, a "God Thinks You're Fabulous" T-shirt, scratch off lottery tickets, shell necklaces, candy, etc. Buy your eggs before service, and stick around after to pick them up!
Our church office will be closed on Monday, April 10th, in observance of Easter. If you leave a voicemail or send us an email, we will do our best to get back with you as soon...as we can once the office reopens on Tuesday.
Jesus understands our lives because he was human, just like us. In our next book study, we will take an in-depth look at Max Lucado's book He Gets Us. Was Jesus ever stressed? Was he lonely? Did he mourn? Did he have fun? Was he fed up with politics? How did he deal with injustice? He faced the same hardships and struggles that we encounter...He gets us!
To sign up for this 4-week study that begins on Wednesday, April 12th, you can sign up in the foyer or email [email protected]. When you sign up, please let us know if you'd like to attend the class at 11 am or 6 pm. If we have enough people register, we will offer this class in-person at both times. Books are available through Rev. Lorraine.
If you are an early riser, we hope you'll join us for our next Breakfast Club outing. We meet every 2nd Thursday of the month at Parkside Cafe, located at 8180 49th St. N, Pinellas Park. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Our next meeting of the King of Peace Pride Team will take place immediately after worship on Sunday, April 16th. If you are currently or or would like to be on the team, please plan to join.
Would you be interested in doing a Drum Circle at King of Peace? Stick around after worship next Sunday, April 16th in the Sanctuary and meet with Rosa. Please sign up in the foyer or email [email protected].
Tuesday, April 18th is Holocaust Remembrance Day. The Florida Holocaust Museum is offering free admission. Reading of the names will be from 9 am-5 pm. KOP will be reading at 11:15 am. At 5:30 pm there will be an in-person commemoration service featuring a candle lighting by Holocaust Survivors and their children.
You are invited to join our monthly (virtual) Board of Directors' Meeting this Tuesday, April 18th at 6:30 pm. Just click on the Zoom link information below.
