Latest NCPP Legislative Activities for Cooperative Procurement
NCPP's Legislative Advocacy monitors, supports or opposes legislation that affects cooperative procurement.
See latest activities below:
Testifying before the House Public Education Committee for the Texas legislature, NCPP Executive Director went on the official record to support HB1496. The proposed new language will clarify the responsibilities for school districts related to reporting costs associated with using cooperative contracts. There has been confusion as to whether to report the fees between coops and suppliers - a transaction between two private entities. The new language will only require the reporting of direct fees paid by school districts.
NCPP sent two letters of support for the State of New York to extend the deadline for using cooperative contracting for political subdivisions. Without this extension, the allowance would end in July 2021 - it has now been approved as part of the Governor's budget to July 2023.
There is ongoing proposed legislation in Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Mississippi, Montana and Oklahoma that is being monitored as well . NCPP will share updates as part of future NCPP INSIDE Scoop newsletters.
