Join us for a playful ashtanga-inspired flow set to traditional Irish music which is guaranteed to lift your spirits mere hours before the St Patrick's Day holiday.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga as exercise popularised by K. Pattabhi Jois during the 20th century, often promoted as a modern-day form of yoga. He claimed to have learnt the system from his teacher, Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. The style is energetic, synchronising breath with movements.
Those donning green, white or shamrock attire or accessories will call upon the luck of the Irish to win various St Patrick's Day inspired prizes.

Release & Renew with Yin
Thursday, March 23rd at 7PM with Bridgitte
Yin Yoga allows us to work into the connective tissues of our bodies; the ligaments, joints, & fascia. Yin Yoga restores and maintains mobility while enhancing the body's energetic flow and emotional balance. Yin prioritizes stability and stillness over movement, allowing us to go deeper both mentally and physically. With its emphasis on non-muscular mobility, Yin is a great way to enhance your vinyasa (or Yang) practice.
This will be amazing, and an all levels, practice where Bridgitte will guide us to provide a time of inner reflection, meditation, and peace.

Yoga and Sound for the Mind & Body
Focusing on the Hips & Hamstrings
Thursday, March 30th 7:00-8:15PM
with Jodi and Ginger
If you’ve been hibernating this winter or feel disconnected with your practice, this class will assist you in a mental reset and reconnection to your body.
A beautiful combination of calming breath work, sound bath instruments, and gentle movements that will focus on the hamstrings and the hip compartments to clear, move, and rinse away stuck or stagnant sediment in our physical, mental and emotional body.
Ginger will guide you through a series of deep hip and hamstring openers that will focus on creating space and length in these areas that tend to tighten and cause discomfort over the long cold months. Jodi will bathe us with her sound instruments while we breathe into and hold our poses.
Sound bath instruments influence brainwaves and trigger alignment and balance within the body, resetting our mental, emotional and physical state via vibration. At the end of the class, Jodi will go around with tuning forks to ground and refresh.
Don’t miss this special evening that is sure to bring awareness to your body
through yoga, gentle movement, and sound!

RYT 200 Teacher Training Information Session
Saturday, March 25th at 11AM with this years current trainees
Come learn more in person and ask all your questions.
|
|
Please join us at our studio for an information session on our next training which kicks off in September. You will have an opportunity to meet and direct questions to our current teachers in training that are set to graduate this June!
Details of our training program:
Participants will learn the fundamentals of a comprehensive Hatha yoga practice including alignment-based asana; vinyasa; pranayama; meditation; mindfulness; anatomy and physiology specific to yoga; a study of the Chakras; Ayurveda (the sister science of yoga); and yogic history; and philosophy as described in the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali.
Emphasis will also be placed on the techniques of teaching, including use of voice and body language; learning to observe bodies, modify poses and sequence classes with ample time allotted to “practice teaching” with a focus on dynamic sequencing and transitioning throughout the program. Even if teaching is not the ultimate goal, learning to articulate the principles just studied is a powerful learning tool.
Participants interested in teaching will emerge from our 10 month training confident and ready to start teaching after graduation with at least two learned, practiced and memorized classes to allow for a seamless transition from class to field/from student to instructor. Graduates will be well-trained professionals ready to teach a variety of yoga classes with confidence and skill.
Roots' Yoga Teacher Training faculty will be comprised of our current staff of instructors and well known guest leaders and instructors with years of experience leading RYT200 hour teacher trainings in and around Boston and the North Shore.
Training includes 10-weekends between September and June where we will meet on
Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
