Preparing Women for Leadership and Board Positions

The month of April 2020 has witnessed us venturing into virtual settings for our programs at lightning speed!

In the month of April, we have successfully kicked off Women in Leadership (WIL) 2020, hosted 2 episodes of Virtual Board Coaching Series - "Role of Directors in Times of Crisis" by Anne Abraham (Chairperson of LeadWomen) and "Technology in the Times of the Coronavirus" by Chong Chye Neo (former CEO of IBM Malaysia) - and conducted the inaugural Virtual Board Simulation.

We do expect to continue curating our programmes virtually, for the time being, and then in a blended format, pending MCO in order to continue supporting the leadership and board journies of our members and network.

Cheryl Khor, a Partner of Deloitte’s Malaysia Risk Advisory & APAC Operational Risk Leader has more than 20 years of experience covering financial, operational and internal audits. She currently leads the risk advisory practice in Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Anthony is an Executive Director attached to Deloitte’s Risk Advisory division. Anthony leads the Extended Enterprise Risk Management, Assurance and Cyber Risk service lines in Deloitte Malaysia. He has over 20 years’ experience in professional services and, in particular, risk advisory and assurance. Anthony specialises in internal, IT and cyber security assessments and reviews, corporate governance and business processes reviews, risk management and large scale programme and project risk management

The Virtual Board Simulation
THE VIRTUAL BOARD SIMULATION will provide an immersive experience into the real-life challenges of boards - both technical and people skills. Experienced board directors and facilitators will observe the simulation & provide constructive feedback to further enhance the learning.

Women In Leadership (WIL) 2020
Our Women in Leadership 2020 kicked-off virtually for the first time!

Despite the physical distance between us, our virtual sessions have been filled with energy and engagement! We managed to run an online induction, a day of online group mentoring with our WIL mentors and a 2-day online group coaching session. It was a new and exciting experience for all and definitely showed us that online training is great possibility. 

Special thanks to our delegates, speakers, mentors and coaches for joining us on this new adventure, we thank you for your support as we venture into this new territory.

COVID-19 Impact Entrepreneurs Survey

Despite a growing number of initiatives and resources made available to promote and develop women’s entrepreneurship, gender inequalities in entrepreneurship still exist. Now, with the rapid, global spread of COVID-19, the positive developments in closing the gender gap in entrepreneurship could be threatened.

Support UN Women in addressing the effects of COVID-19 on women entrepreneurs.
if you are owners and senior managers of the following organizations, please fill in our 10-15 minute survey: 
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (both men-led and women-led businesses)
  • Accelerators, incubators or other entrepreneur support providers
  • Investors targeting SMEs
  • Other relevant organizations (e.g. policymakers, finance institutions)

The survey data will be used for designing, implementing and scaling gender-smart toolkits targeted at entrepreneurs and accelerator programs in both Asia and the EU. Additionally, the data will be used as input for the issues brief ‘Gender-smart entrepreneurship’ to be published by UN Women.
