Perry Comprehensive Plan Public Meeting | | |
The City of Perry invites residents and community stakeholders to attend the second public meeting for the Perry Comprehensive Plan on September 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Perry Events Center.
The meeting will provide another opportunity for the community to share feedback and help guide Perry’s future. Public input is an important part of the planning process and will help shape priorities related to the City’s continued growth and development.
The Comprehensive Plan serves as a long-term guide for local decisions and establishes a shared vision for Perry’s future.
Community members are encouraged to attend and take part in the conversation.
The Perry Events Center is located at 1121 Macon Road in Perry.

The Perry Bites & Beats Festival takes over Historic Downtown Perry on September 12, 2026 from 12 PM - 8PM!
The festival will showcase a full day of live music performances across multiple genres, a diverse lineup of food trucks and vendors, and a festive, high-energy atmosphere that invites residents and visitors alike to celebrate community, culture, and creativity!
The festival will feature a main stage with regional and local music acts, a curated food truck court offering flavors from around Middle GA, a beverage garden, family-friendly activities, and artisan vendor booths.
The Perry Bites & Beats Festival is sponsored by Robins Financial Credit Union.

Perry Shred Day will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Heritage Oaks Park from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The City of Perry Stormwater Management Division is working with Shred-It, a certified and licensed document destruction company. They will be on site to accept up to 4 standard size boxes of paper/document items per vehicle.
Heritage Oaks Park is located at 2021 Sam Nunn Boulevard in Perry.

Help keep Perry clean by joining us for the annual Perry Trash Dash!
This citywide community cleanup takes place on September 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Participants can stop by Heritage Oaks Park (2021 Sam Nunn Boulevard) between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. to pick up trash bags, grabbers, gloves, and other supplies before heading out to clean up areas throughout the City.

Sign Up For Sweets & Treats!
Businesses and organizations are invited to participate in Downtown Perry's Sweets & Treats on October 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Historic Downtown Perry!
Hosted by the Perry Main Street Promotion Committee, the event welcomed approximately 2,200 visitors in 2025.
Participating businesses are encouraged to bring plenty of candy or other fun giveaways, along with any décor, tables, chairs, and supplies needed for their setup. Businesses located outside the event area are still welcome to join the fun!

Scarecrow Fest 2026: Under the Big Top in Downtown Perry
Step right up for Scarecrow Fest 2026!
This October, Historic Downtown Perry will transform into a colorful carnival filled with creative scarecrows inspired by this year’s theme, Under the Big Top in Downtown Perry.
Businesses and organizations are invited to join the fun by creating a circus-themed scarecrow display. Think ringmasters, tightrope walkers, carnival treats, circus animals, and more! All scarecrows must follow this year’s theme.

July 2026 Perry Fire & Emergency Services Stats
The City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services Department received a total of 354 calls during the month of July in 2026.
The Perry Fire Department is a 2-station department that contains a staff of firefighters providing fire protection, emergency medical services, technical rescue operations, fire safety education, fire cause investigation, and fire code inspections to a population of over 26,000 across 27.9 square miles.

Think you have what it takes to Train Like a Firefighter?
Join the Perry Fire Department on September 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Fire Station 2 (150 Commodore Drive) and put your strength and endurance to the test on the department’s physical agility course!
Participants will tackle seven firefighter training stations, including the Stair Climb, Hose Hoist, Keiser Sled, Rescue Drag, Fan Carry, Hose Advance, and Ladder Extension.
Participation is free and limited to the first 20 people who complete a waiver. Spectators are welcome!
Parking Reminder: If the station lot is full, please park along one side of Commodore Drive to keep access clear for fire apparatus.

| | UGA Extension to Offer September Gardening Classes | | |
The University of Georgia Houston County Extension Office will offer a series of four gardening classes on Tuesdays in September, giving residents the opportunity to learn practical, research-based gardening techniques for just $15 per class.
Topics include fall vegetable gardening, hand tool care, tree planting, and growing and preserving herbs. Classes will be held at Hafley Park and the Houston County Extension Office Pavilion.
