Berry Berry Good...

It's all about the berry this Saturday - the strawberry that is! And our vendors are not holding back. You'll find everything from homemade strawberry ice cream and fresh baked pies to strawberry sangria and strawberry kombucha! And of course mounds of strawberry shortcake, and baskets full of berries that will be picked fresh on Saturday morning. You'll even find strawberry plants!

Come join us for the market's longest running event (est. 2003) and celebrate the sweetness of summer. We'll have live music, strawberry crafts for kids, and the launch of the POP program. And our Local Libations Tent returns this week with our friends from Weyerbacher Brewing. It promises to be a fabulous day in the circle! *Be sure to stop by the INFO Tent and pick up your June Local Heroes Rewards Card too!


HEY KIDS!
Our very own Chef Ada will be kicking off the Power of Produce(POP) Club this Saturday. Bring your little ones to the POP Tent from 10am-noon, where Chef Ada will be doing fun food activities, demonstrating the magic of spinach, and sampling two berrylicious recipes - a yummy spinach salad, and strawberry cinnamon tortillas.

Every child who participates and signs up for the POP Club will receive $3 in POP Bucks to shop the market for fresh fruits and veggies!

Phillips Farm is located just down river in the rolling countryside of Holland Township, New Jersey. We're excited to have them join us this week especially for Strawberry Day!
Phillips will have plenty of plump, juicy berries and a few other surprises too. They will be located next to College Hill Cakes.

Salvaterra's line-up for this week includes:
spring mix, spinach, arugula, pak choy, chard, kale, collards, red leaf, green leaf and romaine lettuce, cabbage, fennel, dill, parsley, cilantro, Hakurei turnips, beets, carrots, scallions, radishes, applesauce. And maybe the first zucchini of the season - but quantities will be limited!
Note: This is possibly the last week of spinach.

THIS WEEK'S SPECIALS:
Bulk bags of spring mix 2 lbs. for $10. Radishes 1 bunch for $2.50 and 2 for $4. Scallions will be 1 bunch for $2 and 2 bunches for $3. All cooking greens and bags of salad greens can be mixed and matched 1 for $3, 2 for $5 or 3 for $6.

Mel's bouquets will feature gorgeous chantilly snapdragons, little sunflowers, nigella, bells of Ireland and more.

~ Strawberry Balsamic Salad ~
This fruity, fresh salad is made with f arro, local strawberries, mint, and Feta cheese on a bed of  Salvaterra Gardens' Arugula served with a balsamic vinaigrette!
On the menu this weekend: Kale and Quinoa Power Salad, Sunshine Salad, Harvest Slaw, Southwestern Salad, and the Athenian Delight (which was a big hit last week) is also making a return!
