FROM KIM
At seventy-two, my knees keep an honest accounting of every mile. This week they’ll be asked to manage thirty-eight of them on the Trans Catalina Trail, along with nearly eight thousand feet of climbing and descending. I've been training on the desert trails around Palm Springs. With the heat rising each day, the hikes begin at dawn.
In the harsh clarity of midday the trails look simple enough. But at dawn the landscape changes. New shadows. New shapes. Stones and steps I somehow missed the first time.
This morning a wren perches on a cactus, wings outstretched, tiny feathers lifting in the first warmth of the sun. For a moment it seems to drink the morning itself, holding the light in those small trembling wings. A small lesson in attention. A reminder of a recent conversation about oneness and perception, about mystery beyond time and space. Ideas are trails. Walk them again and new contours appear. Possibilities I somehow missed the first time.
In the quantum universe there is no fixed time, no fixed place. Everything happening everywhere all at once. The multiverse. The wren and I and every sentient creature, brief flickers of presence inside that vastness. Perhaps the universe itself is nothing more than the sum of those flickers of presence. We are both the observer and the observed.
It hurts my head.
The human world presses in.
Talk of Iranian drones targeting California. Record heat arriving day after day. War stories spilling across the news. It all feels surreal. The surrealness becomes a dam, holding back anger and despair before rupturing.
Anger at the latest stoires from the Epsterin files. Victims speaking. Anger at the callousness of the powerful and those who protect them. Despair at the slow machinery of justice. Curtains pulled back on wealth and influence, revealing something dark and disturbingly close to home. More deep anger at male violence, and at the way so many cultures accept it as if it were simply part of the weather of humanity.
My boots fall into their steady rhythm on the trail. The crunch of vibram on rocks and sand. Ravens gronk their morning greetings and mockingbirds mock them with bright melodies.
The desert does not ask me to solve anything. It simply continues. Light spreading across rock. Wind moving through cholla. Collared and longtailed lizards scampering for safety before the boots.
I feel a small flicker of guilt that the land and its creatures comfort me while the human world struggles with its own darkness.
Still, it is an extraordinary thing to be conscious.
To walk.
To notice.
To be here at dawn, the long trail unfolding again.
For now, that is enough, it is exquisite.

Nobody prepares you for how quietly magnificent ordinary life becomes after surviving your darkest season.
How a cup of coffee in morning silence feels like luxury.
How genuine laughter with safe people feels like medicine.
How sleeping without anxiety feels like a miracle you don't take for granted anymore.
How small beautiful moments land differently when you remember a time you couldn't access beauty at all.
Surviving darkness doesn't just return you to ordinary life.
It upgrades your ability to experience it.
Everything ordinary becomes extraordinary when you remember what it felt like to wonder if ordinary was ever coming back.
Appreciate every quiet beautiful ordinary moment.
It's everything. ..Inspire note

WOMAN WHO LIFTED THE BAR
During the long shadow of the Second World War, Britain’s Land Girls, formally the Women's Land Army, stepped into the fields when the nation’s farms were emptied of men. With mud on their boots and resolve in their bones, they plowed, planted, milked, and harvested their way through the hardest years of the war, keeping Britain fed when survival depended on every acre of soil. Their work was not simply agricultural labor. It was a quiet revolution. These young women proved that strength, endurance, and skill were never the sole province of men. In the rhythm of tractors and the turning of the earth, they reshaped public imagination itself. When the war ended, the fields they tended had yielded more than crops. They had grown a new understanding of what women were capable of, one that would ripple through society for generations.

WE WERE HERE: Writing Ourselves into History with Ronni Sanlo. Write your life. Witness your truth. Preserve your legacy. Info
There comes a time when we feel called to gather the pieces of our lives, not to summarize them, but to understand what they mean. Dr. Ronni Sanlo invites you to We Were Here: Writing Ourselves into History, an 8-hour Zoom retreat where lesbian women age 50 and older write the moments that shaped them, the lives built without blueprints, and the courage it took to become who they are. You do not need to be a writer, only someone who has lived a life. In this guided and thoughtfully held gathering, participants reconnect with their own voices, place personal stories within our collective history, and witness one another with care and respect. Whether you came out decades ago or recently, are partnered or single, loud or quiet, radical or ordinary, your story belongs here.
The retreat takes place April 23 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pacific on Zoom. To experience a preview, Ronni is offering a free one-hour introductory writing session on March 26 at 10:00 AM Pacific. Write your life. Witness your truth. Preserve your legacy. Register for the March 26 session by emailing RonniSanlo@gmail.com. Learn more at https://ronnisanlo.com/courses/.

Entertainment - This Week's Recommendation
Q1 on Britbox - Season 13 to 20
QI, short for "Quite Interesting," is a panel game that has been a staple of British television since its inception in 2003. The show features a rotating panel of comedians and experts who answer a variety of questions, often with a humorous twist. Sandi Toksvig, who took over as host in 2016, continues to bring her unique blend of humor and knowledge to the show. The game is known for its challenging questions and the fact that there are no wrong answers; only boring ones. The show has been praised for its entertainment value and educational content, making it a favorite among viewers.
Sandi Toksvi is one of the funniest lesbians out and there and i always laugh when watching the show. It's more important to be witty then correct, and then I always end learning a lot of useless trivia
My god, i have tried to like Scarpetta with Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. By can we put Jamie Lee Curtis on a steady diet of Zoloft please. She screams every line. There are a few good characters, the niece, the cop who is now the brother-in-law but wow bad writing and acting. Just finishing episode three and I will slog on hoping it improves. Also gory and violent, give me a Britsh Crime Series with a strong female lead. This just seems a clone of some many US male TV produced series. Maybe Nicole is off her groove with the divorce.
