The Wonderful Mr. Beans!

Author Gerry Markham will read the story about a donkey named Mr. Beans, who was moved from a farm when his owners got too old to care for him. Ray of Light Farm in East Haddam became his home, in the story and in real life. Mr. Markham is part of Horse Feathers, the Farm's veteran's program, which aims to be a "healing presence in a wounded world."

Mr. Markham calls his book a 'living book' because people can visit the Farm to meet the real Mr. Beans and experience the book in their hearts.

The program is Free and appropriate for all ages. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Location: East Haddam Historical Society & Museum, 264 Town Street

We Need Docents! Would you be able to help us?

A docent staffs the Museum on a Sunday afternoon from 12:00 - 4:00. A docent greets visitors and invites them to tour the Museum. Visitors are encouraged to explore the Museum independently and ask questions if they have them. As a docent, you will be paired with another person for the 4 hours. Written materials are stationed throughout the Museum to provide information about the exhibits. You can come by on a Tuesday or Thursday before you docent, and we will give you a tour and answer your questions.

We need docents on August 18, 26, September 1, 8, 15, and 28. Will you help us?
