STEP CODE WORKSHOPS


Step Code workshops go beyond builders and architects. It also provides a baseline knowledge set for appraisers, engineers, or insurance representatives. 

These workshops are presented in partnership with FortisBC and are offered virtually for those that cannot make it in person.

NATIVE WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF CANADA’S NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIPS PROGRAM

Up to $20,000 in Red Seal Grants for New Apprentice Hiring


This NAP program was developed to connect Indigenous Women and 2SLGBTQIA+ persons to new Red Seal apprenticeship opportunities with companies who share the view that women’s economic empowerment is vital in reconciliation.


Your business is eligible for up to $20,000 in grants if it:

  • Has 499 or fewer paid employees.
  • Has the facilities and equipment to adequately transfer skills to the apprentice(s).
  • Can meet any regulations applying to your trade, such as wage rates and ratios.


By participating in NWAC’s NAP your business will have access to:


  • $10,000 in funding for up to 2 apprenticeship positions each year, for a maximum of $20,000 annually.
  • The NAP job board to connect directly with potential apprentices.
  • Resources for providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for Indigenous women, Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse people.

SELKIRK COLLEGE & KAST ADVANCED MANUFACTURING SURVEY

Local businesses are invited to participate in a survey exploring the Advanced Manufacturing sector in the Columbia Basin Boundary Region. This survey is part of a larger project being undertaken by Selkirk College and the Kootenay Association for Science and Technology that aims to 1) connect businesses in the advanced manufacturing sector with programs and supports related to youth recruitment and retention; and 2) promote advanced manufacturing as a career path for youth.

RESEARCH FUNDING SUPPORT AVAILABLE UNTIL MARCH 31, 2023

The Economic Trust of Southern Interior (ETSI-BC) has continued its funding partnership with Mitacs for 2023, and there is over $53,500 available to fund collaborative research projects.


This funding supports research internships with public post-secondary institutions in the region that will help generate economic opportunity, innovation and employment, and resiliency in BC’s Southern Interior.


Businesses, non-profits, First Nations and municipalities can work with Mitacs on research projects to help solve problems, develop new products and processes, and create pathways for students and graduates to find employment in their region.


Mitacs is now accepting eligible applications that will be supported by this funding partnership with ETSI-BC. The application deadline is March 31, 2023 with projects starting by June 30, 2023.
