ELCA LIFE
"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork."
~Psalm 19:1
Monday, August 21 was an exciting day for
everyone
in North America!

Everyone...including ELCA students! ELCA provided eclipse glasses for all students and staff to safely witness an eclipse of the sun. Students were seen all over the campus looking up to the heavens.

Mr. Tucker treated elementary students to a moon pie! He is pictured with Coach Johnson with his moon pie and an RC Cola!

Anyone within the path of totality was able to see one of nature’s most awe inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. Second grade teacher, Mrs. Williams and her son, Matthew, drove to Dillard, GA to see the total eclipse. Mrs. Williams described it as, "Two minutes and thirty eight seconds of WOW!"
A Hands-On Approach
Mr. Piette’s 6 th  grade Earth science class participated in a lab as they learned about the eclipse.

All the factors concerning an eclipse are so precisely perfect, it is clear that for an eclipse to occur is no mere coincidence. What a testament to our great God who meticulously formed the heavens and the earth and spun them into perfect order.

It was an extremely cool hands-on learning experience for them!
WILD ABOUT OUR GRANDPARENTS!

Oldest Grandparent:
Helen Chestnut, grandparent of Brandon Hood

Most Grandchildren:

DID YOU KNOW
OVER A DOZEN SALVATION ARMY FAMILIES
ARE PART OF THE ELCA FAMILY?
For over 140 years, The Salvation Army has stretched across the globe and has a presence in more than 125 countries, with its international headquarters in London, England. The Salvation Army is dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and ministering to human need wherever needed.

See below, a letter from Captain Andrea Hoover, ELCA parent and liaison for the Salvation Army families. Please join us in praying for these families and the mission they have embraced.
Thank you for the email you sent out recently to the ELCA parents about Hurricane Harvey and ELCA's support of the victims through your Jeans for Mission project.

As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are working together with you to help others during this time of need.

You may already know of The Salvation Army's Emergency Disaster Response services where we provide Food, Water & Emotional/Spiritual Support in situations such as this.

Currently, The Salvation Army has deployed Officers (Ministers) and volunteers to hurricane victims from all over the country.

At the Evangeline Booth College, we are currently in Disaster preparation mode, as we are preparing to deploy our Cadets (Ministers in training) in two waves to assist with Emotional & Spiritual support to victims of
Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Some of the Cadets being deployed to Hurricane Harvey, are parents of ELCA students, who will be serving in some of the hardest hit areas by Hurricane Harvey.

We would ask that you be in prayer for our Cadets, as they go to provide Emotional and Spiritual Support.

Blessings!

Serving Others Because of Jesus,

Captain Andrea Bledsoe Hoover, RN MSN
Family Life Center Director/Spiritual Health & Wellness Officer

It's not too late to join the
ELCA Booster Club!

This is a great way to support the student-athletes and teams that represent ELCA.

ELCA has a rich and proud tradition of excellence on and off the playing fields. The ELCA Booster Club financial contributions have made great impacts on all of ELCA sports teams and the many athletes that have participated in our programs through the years. By joining the ELCA Athletic Boosters you will be helping fund opportunities for our ever developing sports programs.

There are many different levels of sponsorships available that you can help support ELCA Athletics. Each one is designed to meet the needs you may have as either a Corporate Sponsorship or an Individual/Family Sponsorship. All include free entry into all of the sporting events held on the campus here at ELCA. The only exclusion would be any and all GHSA playoff games in the respective sports. You will also get a minimum of two meal tickets to the Homecoming Dinner.

Maybe you want to know where you will sit at the football games, we have a level for that. Maybe you would like to advertise your business, we have a few levels which can help you with that.

This year we have also included a new Grey Level that gives you membership not only into the Athletic Booster Club but also into the Touchdown Club or Tip-Off Club, you choose which one.

We would appreciate your support! Complete this form to join. Just send it in with your child and we can bill your account for your membership.

Sincerely,
Eddy Wright
President
ELCA Booster Club
FINE ARTS
Change, change, change, is happening in the ELCA Fine Arts department,
and it is all good!

The improvements range from relocation and revamped rooms to an exciting curriculum that pushes students and the boundaries of creativity within our community at Eagle's Landing Christian Academy.

The changes are not only evident up and down the hallways, but in the students perception as well. "This is the most inviting and creative space in the school", says seventh grade student Justice Ray of the renovated art studio. It's a place where everything has been thought out and is easily accessible."

ELCA students are eager to utilize new equipment in the art suite and optimize their creativity. The new suite has more than doubled in size and includes a 6 unit commercial sink, high-top butcher block worktables, adjustable glass top tables for AP art students, standup easels, and new digital art tools. Each of these additions enhance ELCA’s art education and increase student opportunities for success.

If you are curious about what goes on in the art suite, the ELCA Art Gallery hosts work throughout the year providing you with the opportunity to view the high level of creativity of our student artists. The first art gallery show of the school year was a huge success. The exhibit featured student art work following the theme “We are Wild about our Grandparents!” If you missed the show, drop by and view the art work featured on the balcony. We will also host art shows throughout the school year, so keep an eye out for announcements. ELCA Visual Arts is looking forward to a great year full of innovation!

NACCAP
Christian College Fair
On  Tuesday,   October 24  ELCA will be hosting the  National Christian College Fair  from 10 am to 12 pm in the school gymnasium.  All of our students in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to attend  if they pre-register .  Students may pre-register at  www.myblueprintstory.com  in the top right corner where you see “Get Your Barcode.” Students will present their ticket to their 3 rd  or 4 th  period teacher to be released from class.

The fair will include two financial aid workshops to help families understand why they should not rule out an education at a Christian college and what resources are available to them. For that reason, we invite parents to participate as well. Parents do not need to pre-register.
