The Georgetown Art Center is SO EXCITED to introduce this collaborative exhibit with an amazing group of innovators, pioneers, prolific creators and mad geniuses, all working on a large scale in the public sphere, and adapting their unique vision, mission and drive to a surprising array of media and styles.
Austin is home to hundreds of artists and muralists, many of whom got their start doing graffiti, although many others have academic roots in fine arts, printing, graphic design and other similar fields. Yet something has attracted and enticed these artists out of the comfort of their studios and brought them onto the streets, to experiment, explore and inspire the masses.
From murals to graffiti, paste ups to light art, ephemeral to permanent and everything in between, this exhibition will provide an education and deep insight into the world of Austin and Central Texas’ most prolific and notorious street artists and creators. Regardless what your definition of the art form is, this collection is sure to intrigue, and maybe even make you question your previous assumptions about what really drives these artists to take their work and passion out into the streets.
Curated in collaboration with Art From the Streets (AFTS) artists and J. Muzacz, Public Artist & Co-Founder of The Mosaic Workshop at Something Cool Studios
