Watch the kids jump for joy in the Tiger Belly Bounce House. The Tiger Belly will be making its first ever appearance at an LCA event courtesy of Lakeshore Sport & Fitness and will be professionally staffed by Lakeshore personnel.

Please note: Lakehore will be unable to set up the bounce house in the event of rain.
TENNIS ANYONE?
Watch the Kids Swing the Racquet
Lakeshore Sport & Fitness will once again be serving up tennis at Howler at Bauler.

Watch the little ones hone their skills on the mini-tennis court with supervised instruction.

STRUT YOUR STUFF IN THE ANNUAL PARADE
Gary Sinclair Returns As Grand Wizard
The annual costume parade is always one of the highlights each year at Howler at Bauler . LCA's very own wizard, longtime member Gary Sinclair (pictured), will be back once again to serve as the Grand Wizard of the costume parade. It would't be Howler at Bauler without Wizard Gary.
At approximately 4:15, Wizard Sinclair will invite all the costumed children, and others who want to participate, to join him in the annual parade through Bauler Park. You'll want to have your cameras ready to snap photos of the assorted ghouls, goblins and princesses as they march by you.
THINGS WILL BE TWISTED AT HOWLER
Balloon Animals Everywhere
Howler will once again feature a balloon artist to make delightful creations.

Perhaps, it will be a twisted animal or, maybe a twisted heart. Either way, the kids can take it how as a memory from 2019 Howler at Bauler .
PEOPLE WILL GET MADE UP
Two Face Painters Will Be On Hand
We all need a little make-up now and then, so lines are often long at the Howler face painting station. Because we want everyone to get the make up they need, we've added aso we'll have a second face painting artist again this year.

So, there will be no excuse this year to leave Howler with an unpainted face.
CAN YOU WIN AT CARNIVAL GAMES?
You'll Have the Chance to Prove It!
Test your skill at carnival games such as ring toss , Skee-Ball and more. There're will be things to guess and things to pitch. In the end, we'll see how things stack up.

LCA is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer, not-for-profit neighborhood organization. Event day proceeds do not cover expenses and, without the generosity of our sponsors, we would be unable to hold events such as Howler at Bauler . Please let all these sponsors know you appreciate their generosity. 
All funds generated from LCA events after expenses are returned to the neighborhood through a variety of initiatives to enhance the quality of life of neighborhood residents.  Learn more  about how LCA uses funds it raises.
BOARD OF DIRECTOR NOMINATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED
OVERVIEW

Each year at the Annual Meeting of Lincoln Central Association an election is held to fill seats on the organization's Board of Directors which are open due to term expiration, or otherwise. The procedures for the election of Board members are outlined in the organization's bylaws (excerpted below).

To fill open seats, the Nominating Committee of Lincoln Central Association is now searching for a slate of dedicated candidates to recommend to the membership for election at LCA's 2020 Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 PM on Wednesday evening, January 22rd, 2020. Additional details about the annual meeting, including the location, will be provided in LCA's upcoming newsletter.

In order to serve on the Board, a candidate must have been an LCA member in good standing for at least 60 days prior to the election, reside within  the association's geographic boundaries , and commit to serving on at least one of the organization's committees. Current committees include: Planning & Zoning, Parks & Beautification, Communications & Membership, Events, Community Affairs and Governance. LCA Board meetings are generally held at 6:30 PM on the fourth Thursday of each month.
 
If you are interested in serving on LCA's Board of Directors, please send a brief statement outlining why you would like to serve, the committee(s) you are interested in serving on and a bio (see  current board member bios  on the website as examples). Alternatively, you may recommend another qualified LCA member as a candidate and submit the required information on their behalf. 

All submissions should be submitted to [email protected] no later than the submission deadline of Saturday, November 23rd, 2019. A member of the Nominating Committee will contact each interested party for further discussion and to answer any questions.

BYLAWS EXCERPT: ARTICLE V - BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Section 1. General Powers

The daily activities, property, business, and affairs of the Corporation shall be managed by its Board of Directors. The Board may exercise all such powers of the Corporation as are authorized by law, the Articles of Incorporation, and these Bylaws.

Section 2. Number, Qualifications, and Term of Office

a) Number

The Board of Directors shall consist of thirteen (13) Directors, composed of four (4) officers of the Corporation (the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) and nine (9) other elected Directors.

b) Qualifications

To be eligible to serve as a member of the Board of Directors, a person shall be a qualified voting member of the Corporation, without interruption, for a minimum of sixty (60) days prior to election or appointment.

c) Term of Office

Except as otherwise provided in these Bylaws, the term of office of a member of the Board of Directors shall be two (2) years. The term shall start immediately upon election. Directors shall serve no more than three (3) consecutive terms. After the lapse of at least one (1) year, a person may serve again as a Director of the Corporation. Directors shall have staggered terms with nine (9) elected in even years, and four (4) elected in odd years.

d) Fiduciary Duty

Board members owe an explicit duty of care, and a duty of loyalty to the Corporation.

Section 3. Election

The Board of Directors shall be elected by the members from nominees submitted by the Nominating Committee pursuant to the nominating process set forth in Article VI. Section 4 of these Bylaws. The election shall occur at the Annual Meeting of the membership meeting held the fourth week in January. Election shall be by written secret ballot unless the number of nominees does not exceed the number of offices to be filled, in which case, the President shall instruct the Secretary to cast a unanimous ballot. The Nominating Committee shall prepare the ballots, if needed, before the election and distribute them at the membership meeting.

A majority of the votes cast at the Annual Meeting of the membership shall be necessary to elect. If no nominee receives a majority of the votes cast, the two people having the highest number of votes cast on their behalf shall immediately have a run-off election and a new ballot taken at that meeting. The nominee receiving the lowest number of votes shall be eliminated and a new ballot taken.

The newly elected Directors will assume office immediately following their election.

Embrace the spooky season and celebrate Halloween at Spooktacular on Clark Stree t , a family-friendly, trick-or-treat extravaganza brought to you by our friends at LCA member, the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce and the Clark Street SSA #23.


Join the haunted fun on Sunday, October 27 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. as participating businesses on Clark Street from Armitage to Diversey transform into trick-or-treat stops featuring candy and surprises for the whole family.
Trick-or-treaters can also show off their costumes for a chance to win prizes at the annual Spooktacular Costume Contest hosted by Team Rehabilitation Physical Therapy (2727 N. Clark).

HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY IN OZ PARK

Lincoln Central Association will once again team with the Oz Park Advisory Council to light up the neighborhood at Oz Park's 3rd Annual Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony. This year's ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 7th at 5:00 PM.

Mark you calendars so that you do not miss this special neighborhood experience. 43rd Ward Alderman Michele Smith called the initial tree lighting ceremony "the most amazing thing Lincoln Park has done in decades."
