Singer, Actress Selena Gomez Accepts
McLean Award
Internationally beloved actress and recording artist Selena Gomez accepted the 2019 McLean Award on September 13 at the hospital's Annual Dinner. Gomez spoke from the heart, poignantly sharing her personal experience with depression and anxiety and thanking the staff at McLean for their work to improve the lives of those affected by mental illness.
School Nurse Liaison Pilot Brings McLean's Expertise
Directly to Schools
Thanks to the generous support of McLean National Council members Bob and Nancy Anthony, more than 500 schools in Eastern Massachusetts have access to the educational and consultative services of McLean's School Nurse Liaison Project.

This five-year pilot project has had a considerable impact on thousands of students, and more schools are clamoring to participate.
Family Foundation Funds Study to Help Alzheimer's-Related Anxiety
At the end of his life, Alexander Spier suffered with Alzheimer's, agitation and traumatic flashbacks to his time in the death camps during the Holocaust. Today his son Greg and daughter-in-law Kathy are funding an innovative study investigating the use of cannabis in quelling anxiety and agitation in patients with Alzheimer's dementia.
McLean and Partners Establish New Endowed Chair
Edward P. Lawrence and Joseph Gold, MD, were both lauded for their considerable contributions to McLean, Partners and the broader field of behavioral and mental health at an event celebrating the establishment of the Edward Peabody Lawrence Endowed Chair in Psychiatry.
Rappaport Research Fellows Celebrated
On September 4, the Phyllis and Jerome Rappaport Foundation hosted Rappaport Connects Medical Research. Galen Missig, PhD, McLean's 2017-2018 Rappaport Fellow, participated in a "Science Slam" at the event.
