Wow! It feels like time is slipping away! Primaries are right around the corner, and without a second to spare, so are the general elections. Jeez, can we catch a breath? Thanks to community leaders, organizers, and organizations’ incredible relentless work and your active participation, we have been breathing easier.
As we rejoice in our newfound hope for the presidential elections, we continue to ground ourselves in the vision we hold for our futures. A vision anchored in progressive power building and well-funded grassroots movements. We genuinely believe in what we said a few weeks ago; this fight extends beyond candidates and election cycles. However, that doesn’t mean getting the right, grassroots, community-powered, values and vision-aligned people into office is any less critical. This shared vision unites us all.
We’ve been loving your notes and thoughts on our last piece and are moved to see that many of you are eager to discover how we can move together when we still have so many differences of opinions, strategies, and tactics. Right now, we are not only watching ourselves create history but also witnessing groups and individuals figuring out how to balance multiple strategies at once to build progressive political power.
As we continue to move behind our ecosystem’s Block And Build approach, we remain alert that the possibility of winning the presidency doesn’t outweigh the possibility of losing power in the House, Senate, as well as at the local levels of government, in ways that can lead to making our efforts and goals much harder to achieve. Especially here in Massachusetts, we understand the risk of losing lies in the primaries. In a blue state like ours, the challenge is not ensuring we keep the state blue but instead electing the right democrats. We don’t want just any blue; we want the deep democracy kind of blue. We want progressive, innovative, daring, community-aligned democrats. Those are the folks who will drive a progressive agenda crafted and led by our community groups. In Massachusetts, we’re prioritizing those who are community-aligned and those determined to reform Beacon Hill. That’s why we want to share our Deep Blue Candidates with you.
