A Message from the Pastor
  Dear Friend in Faith,

Has work been a blessing for you? Or is it sometimes a struggle to find joy, purpose, and meaning through your work life? Whether you are a stay-at-home parent, someone who works long hours or retired and actively volunteering, we’re often pressed to think about how our faith intersects with our labors. We want the use of our time to be meaningful. When work has been stressful or boring, our prayer may be “God, get me out of here. Quickly!”

I know that some of us find our identity in our occupation and so the value and meaning of our work is deeply a part of us. Or the drive for wealth and income can fuel our work lives (and sometimes to the detriment of our families or sense of balance in life). Sunday Worship at PVUMC
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) invites you to worship at 8, 9:30 or 11 am. The Ignite Modern worship service is bulletin-free, but you can download bulletins for the two traditional services as well as the Looking Ahead bulletin insert OR read them on our website.

You're invited to the Mother's Day Music Celebration at the 9:30 am worship service Sunday, May 12, 2019 . Every year, we lift up our music ministry and feature performances from our choir and bell groups, from our Music Makers to Paradise Singers. If you're looking for something special to do on this special day, join us, and invite a friend, or your mom! Free flowers for all the women!
NEW Worship Series Begins May 5
What sort of influence should our faith have on the places where we work? Join us as we begin our new worship series THIS SUNDAY: Don't Waste Your Work. We'll look at the intersection of work, faith and life. Whether you just started your first job, or whether you're retired, this series is for you. Join us Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 8, 9:30 or 11 am as we explore our work through the lens of scripture and our faith.


NOTE: May 5 is also the date of the John Wesley Society spring luncheon.

You're Invited to a Forum May 19
Members and constituents are invited to join the clergy and Church Council leaders for a discussion of the UMC Judicial Council’s latest ruling on the Traditional Plan, and talk about how we as a church are moving forward. We invite your feedback and questions after traditional worship in the sanctuary at 10:45 am or after the 11 am Modern Ignite service at noon in the chapel on Sunday, May 19 . Your voices matter. John Wesley Legacy Society Luncheon SUNDAY
THIS Sunday, May 5, the PVUMC Foundation hosts its annual John Wesley Legacy Society Luncheon at 12:15 pm in the Fellowship Center. Legacy Society member George Heredia has been enlisted as head chef and will work with sous chefs from the YAL (Young Adult Lifegroup) and Squad 57. The program features two grant recipients (grants funded in part by the Foundation). The luncheon is by invitation only, but we encourage you to find out more about becoming a Legacy Society member.

VBC and Sportball: Register NOW
You're invited volunteer at and register for "To Mars and Beyond," PVUMC's Vacation Bible Camp this summer. Read more and register at pvumc.org/vbc-2019 . We are excited to offer a half-day week-long VBC program as well as an afternoon sports camp. Registration for both camps are separate, but online, with links at pvumc.org .

If you can volunteer for VBC, July 15-19, 2019 , GREAT! You'll save on fees for your child's registration and be more involved in what your child is learning. Both adults and teens 7th grade and older are encouraged to register online TODAY to help.
