Don't You Wish You Could Ride This Well?!

I have a friend that has been a police officer for many years, and he has just completed and passed his class to become a motor officer! That was no small feat because he is older and was competing against all of the younger officers. He always wanted to be a motor officer and he has achieved his dream. Congratulations Manny!

My brother Doug and I wanted to be motor officers from the time we started riding. We would watch the TV show CHIPS, and when we rode our motorcycles, we would ride in tandem just like they did. Back in the day I went to college to be a policeman, but the draft and serving in the Air Force changed all of that. I never pursued it again.

From what we watch on TV and see, a lot of people seem to have lost respect for the police. I am sure those people absolutely have no idea of the hard work, commitment and challenge it takes to be one. Because of all of society’s rules now, it’s like trying to do a job with your hands cuffed behind your back. Well, I know that I respect them, and I hope you do too.

Next time you see a motor officer when you are riding give them a wave. They do wave back!
