Re-stream: Raisa Orshansky and Viktor Kott
Majd Sekkar is a Syrian-Canadian clarinetist whose style blends Middle Eastern folk and classical music with jazz music in unparalleled practice.

Majd has appeared as a master improviser with the Canadian Arabic Orchestra since 2016. He toured over 30 Canadian cities with them and won the RBC newcomer Arts Award. After his graduation from Humber College, Majd joined the fusion jazz club by starting a band, “14 Hours”.
Raisa specializes in tsimbaly, a folk instrument. A recording artist for PARMA, she recently she recorded her symphonic poem, “Spring Fantasy”, with the Ostrava Philharmonic Orchestra in Czech Republic.

Viktor was educated as a professional pianist in Ukraine, and has since mastered instruments such as the duduk, melodica, shakuhachi, Irish flute, and jaw harp (khomus). He has also produced two albums with his original compositions.

Carlo Bianchini Sr. and Jr.

Carlo Bianchini Sr. is a Markham-based singer-songwriter who has been performing since the age of 11 with highlights including the Jazz Festival on Main St. Unionville. He recently released his album, Quarantine Sessions, that has garnered him a Spotify following from around the globe.

Carlo Bianchini Jr. is a recent graduate from Sheridan College's Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance program. He performed many shows under Sheridan, as well as in Mary Poppins at the Haliburton Theatre Festival.

Brian O'Sullivan and
John Frechette

Brian plays rhythm and lead guitar in several musical groups including The Django Djunkies and The Huronia Hot Strings. He draws from a number of styles including blues, jazz and music from the 70s (Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Bruce Cockburn, etc.).

John's musical taste and influences are varied and global. He truly loves/lives to play. He still has two good ears and is punctual after years of extensive gigging, as well as some studio work.

Unity between 14 Black dancemakers across Canada
A national initiative conceptualized by Dora-nominated choreographer and creator Esie Mensah (Shades, A Revolution of Love), TESSEL explores the complexities of movement and voice as a form of resilience – and to achieve truth and honesty in sharing its participants' lived experience as Black dance artists.

Premiering across the country, the film aims to amplify Black voices by providing a platform for the artists to share their truths.
