Free Family Meal Program

The Summer Family Meals program is back this summer at Liberty Heights Park! We are excited to announce that we have added Thursdays to our weekly meals schedule. Dinner service includes a delicious and nutritious sit-down meal at no cost to the families due to grant funding. Tuesday's after-dinner activities will focus on nutrition education with recipe demonstrations and food tastings, and family activities, while Thursday's will focus on family interactive physical activities.

To reserve your family's spot at Family Meals, follow this link https://bit.ly/39ydiSf or scan the QR code. Join us for one date, some of the dates, or all the dates, depending on your availability. We ask that families register under the parent/guardian name and indicate how many family members will join us on each date.

Family Meals was made possible through partnerships with the West Allis Health Department and Sodexo Food Service, including grant funding from the National Park and Recreation Association through Walmart Foundation, GE Healthcare, and No Kid Hungry/Share our Strength.

Preschool Program

The WAWM RCS Department will be offering a 2-day per week preschool program this fall. The program will run from mid-September 2022 through May 2023 at the Recreation Center. Children must be comfortable in a classroom setting without a parent and must be able to use the restroom independently. The preschool program will be instructed by certified classroom teacher, Kim Rymer. A classroom helper will be in class everyday to assist Mrs. Rymer with restroom needs, snack time, and indoor/outdoor play.

A $50 non-refundable deposit will secure your spot and will apply towards the program fee. Call 414-604-4900, and one of our team members can assist you.

If you are interested in having your child attend preschool 1-day/week, please go online at wawmrec.com or call the office at 414-604-4900 and have your child’s name added to the 1-day/week preschool waitlist. Program Manager, Linda Gritzmacher, will contact you to discuss this preschool option.

AUGUST CALENDAR

Packer Family Night

WHO’S READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?! The WAWM RCS Department will be heading to Green Bay on Friday, August 5th, for the Green Bay Packers’ Annual Family Night extravaganza. We will be leaving the Recreation Center at 3:15 pm to find our seats in the legendary Lambeau Field to spectate the team’s practice drills. Following the practice the Packers are hosting their awesome laser and fireworks show. After the conclusion of the show, we will head back to West Allis, returning at approximately 1 am.

Tickets are $40/$50 NR per person (an adult must accompany children under the age of 18). Spots are limited, so don’t wait to sign up! Please register online at wawmrec.com or call our office during business hours at 414-604-4900. Last year, even though it rained, we left with plenty of great memories and souvenirs like Jordan Love’s glove and towels from various players. It was pretty cool!
