The first half of the program will include the Percussion Ensemble from our Senior Symphony, instructed by Linda Siegel, performing modern works for percussion.  These ensembles have provided a wonderful opportunity for MYSO's advanced percussion students to perform challengeng literature in a small ensemble setting. This group is sounding fantastic! Come and hear it!

  

Calypso

CalypsoThe second half of the program will feature the Calypso steel band, the newest member of the MYSO family.  Calypso was formed in spring 2007, in collaboration with Milwaukee Public Schools, and is led by Tim Rush and Charlie Short. Calypso has performed throughout Milwaukee, with highlight performances including African World Festival in 2008, at United Performing Arts Fund Kickoff events, the Lakefront Festival of the Arts and multiple appearances at Summerfest and the Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebrations at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.  Selections performed at the concert will include those from the traditional calypso and soca genres as well as arrangements from the classical repertoire.
