Community Prayer

Avinu-Malkenu image

Avinu Malkenu

Avinu Malkenu,

There are things we have done,

and things we have left undone

where we have missed the mark.

Please forgive us for our complacency

as we watch our planet and its inhabitants

suffer through drought, floods, fires,

and stifling heat;

as we witness people in need

Including fleeing refugees;

as we hear in our country

ugly vitriol between opposing

points of view.

Help us as individuals

and as a community

to work for the better,

and not just wring our hands.

Please forgive us.

This pandemic has made us even more appreciative of our family,

friends and community.

We take nothing for granted.

We ask our brothers and sisters

how we can make amends.

We are willing to speak,

to act,

to return,

to make teshuvah.

Help us to forgive those

who have wronged us.

Let us be gracious and

understanding, just as

You, our Wellspring

are with us.

We are grateful to gather

in person and on zoom

as we pray the familiar prayers

and the melodies stir our souls.

Avinu Malkenu,

may we be sealed for a good year.

AMEN
