as we honor Rev. David Moyer on his retirement

This summer, Rev. David S. Moyer will be retiring after twelve years as our Conference Minister and over forty years of ordained ministry in various settings of the church. We will be gathering on Sunday, June 23, in Madison, WI, for worship, dinner, and a program to celebrate and honor his ministry.
The day's events will begin with a service of worship at 4:30 pm, at First United Methodist Church, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison.
Dr. Walter Brueggemann, the well-known biblical scholar (and Dave's seminary mentor) will be preaching. Musicians from First UCC, Eau Claire, will provide music. The program includes additional guest speakers.
Following worship, the celebration moves across the street to the Madison Concourse Hotel, 1 W. Dayton St., for an informal reception, followed by dinner at 7. (Cost of dinner and program is $50 per person.) A program will follow, during which some of Dave's friends and associates will share a few remembrances. Following the program, there will be time for additional socializing, and dancing.
To honor Dave's ministry in our midst, we are using this occasion to institute the Rev. David S. Moyer Endowment for Outdoor Ministries. The offering from the worship service, as well as special gifts from churches and people like you, will be used to fund this endowment. It is our hope that this endowment can support outdoor ministries for many years to come.
Dave was recently honored by both Lakeland College and Northland College with honorary degrees. Both of these colleges are affiliated with the United Church of Christ. You can read more about these honors here.
There are several ways you can participate:
*Worship service at First Methodist Church. A special offering in support of the Moyer Endowment will be received.
*Dinner and Program. Cost for this will be $50 per person.
* Contribute to the Moyer Endowment. Send checks to the Wisconsin Conference UCC, 4459 Gray Rd., DeForest, WI 53532. Be sure to write "Moyer Endowment" on the memo line. You may also donate online.
*Send a letter or card of appreciation for the memory book we will give to Dave and Ann. Please limit the letters to one page. The cards should be no bigger than 4x6. Deadline: June 1, 2013.
