ICYMI: State of the City

Boca Raton City Council group photo

The City recently hosted a State of the City & Community Celebration where hundreds of residents enjoyed live music, activities, and had the opportunity to meet with Council Members (pictured above) and City staff.

I also delivered the State of the City address, which you can view here. Last month, we held our annual Strategic Planning Sessions where the Council and department heads worked to prioritize key initiatives. Stay tuned for more detail in an upcoming newsletter.

Welcome: Innovative Solutions

City staff and Council welcome Innovative Solutions

Software company Innovative Solutions selected Boca Raton to house its new corporate headquarters.

The move is part of a collaboration with IBM that will add about 100 new jobs to the area. Read more about their plans here.

We've added thousands of high paying jobs through our economic development efforts and continue to work to make sure Boca Raton has great job opportunities for our residents.

Ahead this June:

Summer in the City
Hurricane season

Summer in the City: The City of Boca Raton's Summer in the City concert series provides a line-up of free concerts with tribute bands playing beloved classics. This month's line-up:

  • Fri, June 21 - Rock of Abba
  • Fri, June 28 - China Grove

The original kickoff planned for tonight featuring Caribbean Chillers has been rescheduled due to forecasted rain. Parrot Heads can catch them later this summer when they perform on July 26!

The entire summer schedule can be found here.

Hurricane Prep: This week's heavy rains are a reminder that hurricane season has arrived. For both new and longtime residents - please take steps now to ensure the safety of your family and property. A lot of helpful details are here at the City's 2024 Be Prepared Boca Newsletter.

Welcome: Please welcome Marisa Herman, who has joined our team as a Special Legislative Assistant and is here to help with resident and community concerns. You can reach her at mherman@myboca.us. If your concern is specifically related to day-to-day operations such as a service request, code enforcement, or non-emergency matters, email reportaconcern@myboca.us so your request can be appropriately fielded.

Getting around downtown: The new on-demand Circuit shuttle service begins this month! The City has partnered with Circuit Transit Inc. for a pilot program to provide FREE shuttle service in the Downtown area, and paid service in a wider area. Download the Circuit app to request a ride. Read more about the service.

This Weekend: The non-profit D.I.S.C. will observe Juneteenth this Saturday at Hughes Park, and for Father's Day, you can check out the Mizner Park Father's Day Car Show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Countdown to: Boca's Centennial

Ode to Boca zip code poem

The countdown to Boca's Centennial celebration has officially begun. We will mark Saturday, June 22 as "Boca Ratone" day to mark the first town charter in 1924. The real celebrations will be throughout 2025, and as part of the City's upcoming Centennial, you can pen your own personal “Ode to Boca” based on your zip code.

How to create your Ode:

Five lines, with each line containing the number of words designated by the zip numbers. Here was my effort:

3 Boca Raton is

3 the greatest city

4 because of its people,

9 but we can reach our fullest potential, united together

6 for the next century and beyond

Happy to see your more creative versions, so please submit your ode today!
