Morning Access: Legislative Breakfast, presented by Buckeye Broadband
| |
|
Because access matters, this morning event is an opportunity for Chamber members to meet and network with the region’s elected officials from various communities and offices in Lucas, Wood, and Fulton counties. The networking-only, "no-speeches" format provides a great opportunity for Chamber members to ask questions and seek answers from the invited elected officials.
Join us Friday, February 9, 2024 from 7:30 AM - 9:00 at The Toledo Club for coffee, a light breakfast and making meaningful connections to foster a pro-business environment in our region.
EPIC Toledo Emerging Leader Program | Powered by Vistage
Prepare your rising stars to become your next generation of senior leadership!
| |
|
Unlike other leadership programs that squeeze material into a few back-to-back days and leave implementation at risk, Vistage emerging leaders focus on one topic at a time, every other month, to encourage mastery. Participants will be challenged to advance their careers within your company, rather than seek outside opportunities.
Develop a proven team of senior leaders equipped to take your company to the next level. Sessions begin February 9th. Find out more and register below.
Big Tax Changes for Small Business
What could the recent changes in the Ohio Commercial Activities Tax (CAT) mean for you? If you have a business with $1 million or less in taxable gross receipts, you’ll save $150 annually. If you are a small business with $1.5 million in taxable gross receipts, you’ll save more than $2,000 annually.
The Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce advocated for maintaining these changes during the budget process in 2023. With approximately 80% of our members being small businesses, we understand the importance of these businesses to our community and how changes like this can have big impacts.

High School Tech Internship Program
Personalized resources, coaching, networking and more.
|
The High School Tech Internship program reimburses Ohio employers for hosting high school interns in technology-focused roles. The goal of the High School Tech Internship program is to provide businesses with the tech talent they need while also providing students with valuable work experience at an early age.
Here's what you need to know:
| |
- Businesses will be reimbursed up to $5,000 per intern to encourage employers to hire high school students in tech-related roles. Businesses also will be eligible to earn bonuses for each student that earns a credential.
- To qualify for wage reimbursement, businesses must submit documentation to the Educational Entity proving the student was employed for a minimum of 120 hours and was paid at least $12 per hour.
- Employers interested in hosting an internship experience should reach out to the intermediary in their region to start the process.

Connecting Mobility & Growth
Listening Sessions
| |
On January 31st, from 2-4 pm, TMACOG is hosting an opportunity for those in our region to share their thoughts and expertise so we can strengthen the connections between statewide transportation and development. It is important for there to be a strong presence from the business community at the session so that ODOT and the consulting team clearly understand the importance of an improved connection to support both economic and population growth in our region.
Together we are making a difference.
