Volunteers Needed for Tax Season

For over ten years, the UWCC has hosted the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), a true mobilizing tool to assist ALICE households.

This nationwide program offers free tax preparation services whereby IRS-trained volunteers help households earning less than $66,000 per year prepare their income tax returns and access credits they qualify for free of charge. This is your opportunity! Would you consider becoming a VITA volunteer?

There are many people hurting, and they need you. We look forward to getting to know you!

When You Wonder

The Patterson Foundation along with Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading hosted this book launch in early September with co- author Ryan Rydzewski. When You Wonder, You’re Learning is based on the teachings of Mister Rogers. This book explores how kids and parents can excel at what Fred Rogers taught best: self-acceptance, close and loving relationships, and a deep regard for one’s neighbor.

Now is your opportunity to be part of a Book Circle located in Charlotte County and across Southwest Florida. The Book Circles are running between now and January 25, 2024.

This week our Board of Directors gathered for a mini board retreat. The UWCC Staff planned a day of activities and engagement. We played a get-to-know you Jenga icebreaker. Our theme was very focused for the board members to Know Your Staff - Know Our Work - Know Your Role.

Our Board Members are amazing volunteers and stakeholders in our community. Every one of them care and want to make a significant impact in Charlotte County. We are grateful for their time, input and commitment.
