2024- March Edition

United Way at the State Capitol

Did you know that February 22 was Non-Profit Day at the State Capitol in Lansing? It is a day to recognize the essential work of nonprofit organizations in our communities, recognize their impact, and inspire others. Our very own CEO, Terri Legg was invited to speak on behalf of the Michigan Nonprofit Association’s amazing work with the Michigan Nonprofit Relief fund. She was able to talk about United Way’s unique leadership and ability to convene stakeholders and nonprofits of all sizes. Thank you Terri for being our voice!

Empowering Women: A Night of Impact at the Period Project Gala

The Period Project Gala fundraiser was fabulously fun! The evening featured a vibrant atmosphere filled with joy and purpose. Attendees were able to participate by packing feminine hygiene bags, receiving education from our three wonderful speakers, Lysne Tait, Shayna Budres, and The White Lotus Boutique and even helping raise funds by playing Heads or Tails.

Through

generous contributions and enthusiastic participation, the event effectively

raised awareness about the challenges faced by young ladies and women, who

cannot afford period products and may miss school or work. Overall, it was a

memorable and impactful evening. We are looking forward to next year's event. Thank

you to all who attended. A special Thank You to Candlestone / Water Tower

Grille and our Speakers.

WOMEN UNITED - Come Connect With Us!

Women United has been hard at work along with the Greenville Area Senior Center in sewing hundreds of small pouches/period bags for feminine hygiene kits. They also contributed funds to purchase Period Panties for United Way's Period Project to help schools. Many hearts smiled as Women United delivered 200 valentines to Mission Point in Belding & Greenville. The ladies are always hard at work gathering items for local groups and helping be the hands to get projects done. Come be apart of this community-driven group!

Women United is dedicated to helping under-resourced women and their families advance out of poverty through initiatives focused on philanthropic action and volunteerism. If you would like to become involved with United Women.
