PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
SeaKeepers partnered with the Georgia Aquarium for the first in a series of Teacher Workshops. Ten high school teachers from Georgia were hosted in Miami over three days.
By bringing teachers out on the water, the goal of our collaboration was to inspire them to keep learning and help them find new ways to invigorate their classrooms. Learn more, here.

Floating Classroom
March 27, 2022
SeaKeepers partnered with Miami Waterkeeper and BJM Rentals in a floating classroom with ten students to learn about Biscayne Bay's marine environment aboard DISCOVERY Yacht River Queen.
SeaKeepers assisted Nova Southeastern University in deploying a remotely operated vehicle to learn about fish communities in Fort Lauderdale aboard SeaKeepers' Vessel DISCOVERY.
SeaKeepers assisted the University of Miami to collect samples to detect giant viruses from Biscayne Bay and offshore of Miami aboard SeaKeepers' Vessel DISCOVERY.
SeaKeepers cohosted a cleanup with 1Hotel at South Beach with 33 volunteers that collected 53 pounds of trash and used the Clean Swell App to document the findings.
SeaKeepers partnered with Blue Scholars Initiative and Overtown Optimist Club in a floating classroom with students to learn about Biscayne Bay's marine environment aboard a Shake-A-Leg Vessel.
SeaKeepers cohosted a cleanup with Sea Experience at Dania Beach with 35 volunteers that collected 64 pounds of trash and used the Clean Swell App to document the findings.
SeaKeepers partnered with The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO on the Seabed 2030 Project. DISCOVERY Vessel Dulcibella participated in the crowdsource data collection in the South Coast of England.
SeaKeepers attended the Seabed 2030 event at the UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. GEBCO announced an increase in 10.1 million square kilometers of new bathymetric data from last year's figure.
SeaKeepers cohosted an island cleanup with Debris Free Oceans and AfroMermaids aboard Watersports Associations' River Queen. A total of 183 pounds of trash were collected from the beaches.
SeaKeepers cohosted a floating classroom with Miami Waterkeeper aboard Watersports Associations' River Queen. A group of 22 students from Miami Beach Police Athletic League's Boxing Program attended.
SeaKeepers has recently partnered with Falmouth Harbour Commissioners as the first Marina Program Partner in the United Kingdom. Read the press release here.
SeaKeepers has partnered with Clean Sailors and Cleaner Marinas in the Marina Partner Program to promote "A Green Guide to Boating" and the DISCOVERY Yacht Program.

Program Associate
Katie joins the SeaKeepers Team from Colorado and will pursue her passion for ocean conservation and education as a Program Associate, managing Citizen Science and Community Engagement.
Melissa White
Events & Membership Manager
Melissa first connected with SeaKeepers as part of the crew aboard a DISCOVERY Yacht vessel that deployed weather buoys in 2019. She is now the Events & Membership Manager and has joined the team from Texas.
