At Sea & Shoreline Programming
ROV Deployment & Reef Surveys
April 2021
Nova Southeastern University deployed a commercial grade mini ROV to provide information on fish communities in Fort Lauderdale from new DISCOVERY Vessel Sea Hag.
Spotter Deployment
April 2021
DISCOVERY Yacht Vibrant Curiosity deployed the first Spotters of the year while crossing the Atlantic. This initiative is a partnership between SeaKeepers and SoFar Ocean.
Water Sampling
May 2021
SeaKeepers assisted the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences in conducting field research to collect data in the waters of Biscayne Bay aboard DISCOVERY Vessel M’Powered.
Plastics Assessment
May 2021
Ocean Conservancy and the University of Georgia’s Jambeck Research Group helped the City of Miami assess how much plastic pollution exists in the city aboard DISCOVERY Vessel Bay Ripper.
World Oceans Day Cleanup
June 2021
SeaKeepers partnered with Volunteer Cleanup, Blue Scholars and Clean Miami Beach to engage 120 volunteers in collecting 99 buckets and 463 pounds of trash from South Beach.
Project Baseline
June 2021
SeaKeepers assisted Rick Thomas from Project Baseline, a Citizen Science Initiative to document drastic, but gradual changes taking place in coral reefs around the world.
Park Cleanup
July 2021
In partnership with Awareness into Action, a cleanup was hosted at Morningside Park with a free yoga class. Volunteers collected 221 pounds of trash and even found a glass Clorox bottle from the 1930s!
Dive Cleanup
July 2021
In partnership with SeaExperience, SeaKeepers hosted a Dive cleanup at the Hog Heaven wreck in Fort Lauderdale with the support of program partner Rick Thomas of Project Baseline. Eight volunteers collected 31 pounds of trash.
Educational Outreach Programming
Floating Classroom
May 2021
SeaKeepers assisted Miami Waterkeeper in a floating classroom with Doral Academy’s Builders Club aboard DISCOVERY Vessel Bay Ripper and Isabel. Students used a water quality testing instrument in Little River, Biscayne Bay. 
BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Sandra Chang is a long-time supporter and wife to Board Member and SeaKeepers Asia president, Julian Chang. Sandra joins LUXUO Magazine in conversation about jazz in Singapore and her love for yachting. The Chang's have expanded the success of SeaKeepers' programming through floating classroom experiences for school kids. Their goal is to educate future generations to appreciate and commit to protect, conserve, and restore marine ecosystems.To read more on her love for jazz and yachting, click below.
