Keeping Seniors Safe In Summer

But summer can pose some unique challenges for older people. It’s essential to be aware of the following summer-related dangers and how to mitigate them.

We're Delighted to Hear from Families About Our Exceptional Care!

Happy With Our Care:
"We have been using Visiting Angels for my dad. It has been really good. The caregiver is really good with working with my parents as far as their temperaments and what not; she just does a good job handling that. She helps with my dad's showering, dressing and meals. She also takes care of laundry. Dad seems very comfortable with her. He is not one to talk much, but he is not complaining, so that's good."

Celebrating Our Hardworking Employees

We are so proud of our wonderful, hard-working employees who go beyond the call of duty. Below is why our Angels are so special...

Tanya J-E: Tanya has been with Visiting Angels since November 2020. Tanya is a very versatile aide who works mainly as a fill-in for live-in caregivers but also does hourly shifts. Not only does she work well with our clients and does a great job taking care of them, but she is also willing to change her schedule at the last minute to suit our clients' needs. Procedurally, she regularly turns in her duty sheets and is good about using them to communicate important information about our clients. Clients and staff both appreciate that she tries to make the best out of situations that may be less than ideal. Tanya is professional, observant, and communicative.

Dee P: Dee has been a loyal Angel since December 2015. Our clients are grateful that she's willing to do puzzles with them, play games, and generally do whatever it takes to assist them! Her kindness and patience put our clients at ease and they know they can trust her to provide great care. They very much rely on her—especially since she rarely calls out or takes time off. Dee completes her duty sheets and is faithful in clocking in and out. If she is unable to clock in or out for some reason, she notifies the office so that it can get resolved. She is also diligent about keeping up with compliance requirements including yearly in-services.

We appreciate and thank you, Tanya and Dee!

HER HUSBANDS

The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old woman because she had just gotten married for the fourth time.

The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation.

"He's a funeral director," she answered.

"Interesting," the interviewer thought.

He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and what they did for a living.

She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years.

After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly, explaining that she had first married a banker when she was in her early 20s, then a circus ringmaster when in her 40s, a minister when in her 60s, and now in her 80s, a funeral director.

Astonished, the interviewer looked at her and asked, "Why did you marry four men with such diverse careers?"

She smiled and explained, "I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go."

COVID-19 Vaccines Widely Available

It's important to protect yourself, older people, and everyone you come in contact with by getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

What’s Happening At Visiting Angels

Spotlighting Our Visiting Angels’ Nursing Team

We are pleased to present our team of dedicated RNs. Our team is headed by our Director of Nursing, Emily. Emily performs multiple state accreditation tasks, trains employees, calls clients, oversees our field RN team, and attends daily staff meetings, among many other essential duties.

This June, we welcomed Caitlyn, our new Admissions RN; she will be opening most of our new client cases. Along with Caitlyn, our field Nursing Supervisors, Diane and Lateefah, are the faces our clients and caregiver employees will see most. They perform client assessments, create care plans, supervise and evaluate our CHHA employees, and much more.

Thank you, Emily, Caitlyn, Lateefah, and Diane!
