The groundhog has spoken and spring is on its way! It's the perfect time for new beginnings, new volunteers and a new program. Speaking of new volunteers, please share this email with your friends. And encourage them to sign up here.

3...2...1...Liftoff!

Last month we launched the new Welcome Home program, and made the applications available to all Lodges. We've already received a few requests!

Vacaville, Calif., Lodge No. 2638 submitted an application and wrote, "We help several homeless and transitioning veterans in our community already. We were pleased to read about your new program, as it will hopefully enable us to help more homeless veterans in our area."

Resources for Veterans & Military Families

There are hundreds of organizations dedicated to serving veterans. Often, it's connecting veterans to existing resources that presents the biggest challenge. That's why we've started a national resource list for veterans, military members and their families.

Check out the current list, and please send us suggestions for any additions. Then, consider starting a state, regional, or local resource list for your area.

Re-Creation in Action
Re-Creation is hard at work, entertaining veterans in hospitals and communities across the country. Already this year, they've performed in more than 20 VA facilities!

Recently, Re-Creation received an end-of-year donation from the ENVSC. They immediately sent a video thanking the Elks for their latest donation! View the video here.

Stay Informed

The DAV is a nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families, helping more than 1 million veterans in positive, life-changing ways each year. They have a range of programs for veterans from outreach programs, employment resources, National Service Officers and more. Learn more about the DAV here.

Then, consider partnering with them on an event in your area! For example, Elks at Sequim, Wash., Lodge No. 2642 are partnering with the DAV to hold a 4th of July fundraiser for veterans with disabilities. If your Lodge is interested in doing something similar this 4th of July, please contact Sequim Elk and DAV member Bill Ellis at [email protected].
