Finding Hope & Help

October 1-November 15, 2019

Join us for a regional read as we enjoy
and discuss Bottled , Dana Bowman's
first-hand account of finding hope and
help on her journey through
motherhood towards sobriety. The
Library Book Club will be discussing the
book at their October 15th meeting.
Copies are available at the library for
anyone who would like to read, share,
and return them. Programs will be hosted throughout October and November related to the Good Neighbor Project's 2019 theme highlighting hope and help for recovery from substance misuse and other
addictions. Funded by the National Library of Medicine and LSTA.
Dana Bowman will speak at Thompson Hall on the Wilkes Community College campus at 5:30 pm on Monday, October 28th.

Our Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest !

Get creative and have fun in decorating your pumpkin! Make sure the pumpkin is not carved or punctured in decorating it. Drop off your decorated pumpkin at the Rose Herring Children's Library October 7-12. You can vote for the best pumpkin October 14-26. The winner will be announced on October 28.

Making Sense of the Civil War

This series of discussions is led by well-known Civil War historian and popular Appalachian State professor Judkin Browning. It examines the meaning of the Civil War. The remaining book to read for the discussions is available for checkout at the Library's upper level: Edward L. Ayers's anthology America's War: Talking about the Civil War and Emancipation on Their 150th Anniversary
