With the support of the NY Department of Agriculture & Markets, CCE-Suffolk is is pleased to be a part of this exciting new program designed to support to Farm to School stakeholders, including farmers, distributors, processors, food hubs, school food authorities (SFAs), and educators.
The New York State Farm-to-School Program is also a key component of the Governor's No Student Goes Hungry initiative, which was first introduced in the Governor’s 2018 State of the State Address. The initiative is a comprehensive program developed to provide students of all ages, backgrounds, and financial situations access to healthy, locally-sourced meals from kindergarten through college.

The Joy of Gardening is a 10 week, self-paced online gardening program offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension. This course is perfect for gardeners who have some experience and want to discover more successful garden strategies.

2 New Flupsy Docks at Woodbine Marina
We gathered with Northport Village, Town of Huntington and Suffolk County officials to celebrate the launch of 2 FLUPSY docks at Woodbine Marina used to raise oyster seeds in local waters. The goal is to raise 100,000 oysters which in turn filter and clean our waters! Fundraising efforts are underway to support and grow this innovative project - many thanks to Mercy Goodnow Smith! Former Village Trustee Mercy Smith saw the program in Huntington and wanted to bring that to the Village of Northport. She led this initiative by collaborating with CCE and organized events to fundraise the money to implement the program.

Marine Program Director Chris Pickerell and Executive Director Vanessa Pino Lockel gave an update on the work of Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program to Suffolk’s Environment, Parks & Agriculture Committee.
Chris highlighted our many programs including our shellfish restoration projects, SPAT program and local fish initiative.
