A Review of Past Events

An Evening to Remember!

While the German national soccer team was in the U.S. recently to prepare for and play two friendly games, we had the immense privilege to bring together former professional star athletes and current sport executives from the DFB and the New England Patriots for a B2B panel discussion at the Goethe-Institut Boston to discuss the internationalization of two different sports brands in two very different markets. Both the German National Soccer Team and the New England Patriots have played and won at the highest levels of their respective leagues, having won FIFA World Cups and NFL Super Bowls respectively (they even brought their trophies to the delight of ALL attendees!) and there was much to be shared among the panelists about how to win championships through building partnerships. See our LinkedIn Post for more infomation and photos!

Thank you Campana & Schott!

Thank you to Campana & Schott for initiating and bringing the important topic of Health Equity to Cambridge! We enjoyed being a partner together with the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. New York in organizing the 2nd Annual Sustainability in Life Sciences Leadership Summit at Bayer Co.Lab where exciting keynote speakers and panelists addressed disparities in health equity - from data bias, disparities in trial participation, to access to healthcare and so much more. Thank you to Fiona Mack and her team at the Bayer Co.Lab for hosting this event in their new space in Kendall Square. Shout out to Stephanie Oestreich, a GABC Board Member, for moderating an amazing panel: Pam Cyrus (Bayer), Ipek Özer Stillman (Takeda) and Jessica J. Federer. Soo Son and Byron Austin set the stage with their spot-on keynotes.

Mentoring Program Kick-off event

At the beginning of October, the Fall 2023 Mentoring program which is run by the GABC Young Professionals had their kick-off meeting!

Mentors and mentees were able to meet in person, and introduce each other in a few speed dating rounds - and enjoy networking over pizza & drinks!

Thank you to Mentoring Committee Chairs Nadine Klabunde and Susanna M Bächle for organizing and managing this excellent program, Susanne Schneider-Kivelitz for providing the introductory overview of mentorship goals and expectations, to Venture Lane | Startup Hub for hosting us in their space. And most importantly: to the mentors for their time.

Sunset Cruise

We started into the Fall with a Sunset Harbor Cruise in Boston's Harbor on a picture perfect evening!

This event was initiated by Thorben Beckmann (YP representative on the GABC Board) and Felix Kraus (Chair of YP Committee), and GABC members, spouses and guests enjoyed a lovely networking evening on the water.

Biotech layoffs 2023: In Q3, 19 Boston-area biotechs made cuts

Several biopharma companies have confirmed they've made layoffs but declined to say how many people were affected, meaning the actual number is certainly higher."
