Two Upcoming Presbytery Meetings
|
For the first time in over two and a half years, the Presbytery of Arkansas will gather “in person” for the 151st stated fall meeting. Due to heating and air repair delays in the Fayetteville church’s sanctuary, we will gather at First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville on October 28 and 29. The theme of the meeting will be “Celebrating Being Together”. Friday evening, we will plan time to celebrate our being together with a special reception following the worship service. We will hear a special announcement of a gift given to the Presbytery that will enhance our opportunities to gather together in the future. Read more.

New Presbytery Gatherings Scheduled
|
The Presbytery staff has been traveling the state meeting with pastors and leadership of the churches around the Presbytery. The staff is having a blast and, from our feedback, participants are getting a lot out of it as well.
Besides getting a free lunch, you will make new connections, learn about new resources, and gather new ideas for your churches. These events are for pastors, CREs, church staff, deacons, elders, and anyone else in a leadership position.

Advent Roundtable Scheduled

CHRISTMAS IS COMING AND INSPIRATION ABOUNDS! YOU JUST HAVE TO TAP INTO IT!
You asked us to provide more opportunities to share ideas from our own Arkansas churches. Well, there's no better time than Advent/Christmas to help each other do just that. Zoom with us on Thursday, October 6 from 1:30-2:30pm. Hear what other churches are planning and share ideas for the 2022 Advent/Christmas season or ideas about things you have done in the past. We plan to speak to churches of all sizes. We'll have an opportunity to share worship ideas as well as ideas for education, fellowship, and outreach. We will also bring some ideas beyond our Presbytery.

The Biblical Foundations of Social Justice
|
It is commonly thought in secular society that the Bible is one of the greatest hindrances to doing justice. Isn’t if full of regressive views? Doesn’t it condone slavery? Why look to the Bible for guidance on how to have a more just society?
This fall Steve Hancock, retired pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, is teaching a six-week online LifeQuest class entitled The Biblical Foundations of Social Justice starting September 20. He will cover topics such as Religion, Politics, and Democracy in America, Is Same Sex Marriage Christian Marriage?, and The Image of God and Civil Rights.
For more information and to register, click this link, or call the LifeQuest office at 501-225-6073. There is a one time fee for taking classes each semester. To access the LifeQuest catalog, click here.

Glad You're Here: 5 Key Components of
Post-Pandemic Evangelism
with Jason Tucker
|
Evangelism is an invitation to relationship. While COVID-19 severed the relationships between many casual attenders and their churches, we may be witnessing the start of the greatest evangelism opportunity of our lifetime. Our time together with Jason will give you some approaches to consider, but, it will also show you how to create the right approach for your ministry context.
Jason Tucker is a good friend of our Presbytery and a leader in the PCUSA on evangelism and vital churches. He is pastor of Tower Hill Presbyterian in Red Bank, NJ, which is one of our fastest growing PCUSA churches. He has been a speaker at our Presbytery, a guest at "We're Listening" and consultant with two of our churches.
Join us on Monday, Oct. 17th at First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, AR (1901 S. 26th Street) at 10am (or live-stream with us on the Presbytery zoom). This is NOT just for clergy but every member of every church who would love to see their church stronger and more vital.

Mt. Comfort Presbyterian Church, founded in 1828, is still a vibrant community of faith, one that understands Christ's call to serve. For years, members of the church have planted and maintained the beautiful garden that you see pictured here. This garden area (with of course the aid of many fine workers) produced 3,800 pounds of produce last year, most of which was shared with the local ministry - the Branford House. The garden is so beautifully kept and the sign "Come Grow With Us" adds a nice invitation to those who pass by.
We have much to learn from each other. If you have a project or ministry that is working well for you, email Carol Clark (cbclark05@aol.com) or Julie Price (julietannerprice@gmail.com) with a picture and a brief description so that we can share your idea with others.
