!!!! Important Presbytery Meeting Information !!!!
Change in Location and Possible Change of Date
|
Plans are changing for our upcoming fall meeting of the Presbytery of Arkansas. We were scheduled to meet on October 21-22 in Fayetteville. First United Presbyterian is now unable to host due to delayed repairs to their heating and air system. The supply chain crisis has caused unusual delays and repairs will not be completed in time. It is the hope of the Leadership Group of the Coordinating Team that we can still meet in person at another location. I have been in contact with several churches to see if one of them can host on short notice. Due to a wedding commitment in my family (my son is getting married in Springdale that weekend!!) the date of the meeting may need to be changed. The Coordinating Team will be meeting in the first week of September to consider all of our options and we will have information for you after that.
Additionally, the Stated Clerk Search Committee has completed its work and the Coordinating Team will call a separate special meeting in September on Zoom to elect a Stated Clerk so that the clerk can be involved in planning and preparation for the fall meeting. Thank you for your patience as we seek to make alternate plans for the fall meeting. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call me (501-663-2424) or email at stewart@presbyark.org.

Deborah Kitchens, who spoke to us at a Presbytery meeting and led a Small Church vitality workshop wants to let you know about a terrific webinar co-sponsored by PneuMatrix and the Synod of the Pacific as part of their Designing for the New Norm project.
The first of what will become a series of zoom opportunities is on Thursday, September 22nd, 3:00pm CT. Their keynote speaker, G. Jeffrey MacDonald is a bi-vocational pastor in the UCC and author of Part Time is Plenty - a recently published book that Deborah has been touting as the 'bible' of how to thrive as a small church with part time clergy leadership.
If you and/or your congregation are at that point or sensing you may be soon, you need to join the conversation! There is no charge for this 90 minute webinar, but each person MUST individually register to gain admission by clicking here.

Parenting For A Better World
|
Join authors Susanna Snyder and Ellen Ott Marshall on Tuesday, August 23 at 1:00pm for the free PRC webinar, Parenting for a Better World. It will be recorded and can be watched on demand after it's initial presentation. Encourage your church's parents to watch.
Living faithfully isn't about attending church. Being Christian is about living in right, just relationships with other people and the rest of creation. How can Christian parents avoid being overcome with the pressure to be a perfect parent and make a difference in the world? Parenting for a Better World shows there are all sorts of ways we can make a real difference from within our own homes.
