Presbytery Online Worship Service
for Christmas Day
The Presbytery recognizes the fact that we have many small congregations without pastoral leadership. That will make it especially hard finding someone to lead a Christmas Day worship service.

The Presbytery staff is offering the gift of an online Christmas Day service for all our congregations.  A few days before Christmas, we will drop the service on our youtube channel (subscribe to Presbytery of Arkansas) or find the link on our Facebook page, Presbyark Connect. Carol Clark will offer a sermon and there will be special music as well as carols for congregational singing. Congregations can gather together in their sanctuaries to worship or people can worship individually in their homes.
Honduras Mission Network Retreat
From January 23 to 27, the Presbytery of Honduras, the PCUSA Honduras network, and our co-worker Dori Hjalmarson have planned an exciting and informative gathering at a conference center near Tampa, FL which was not harmed by the recent hurricane. The retreat is designed to help us in the U.S. network with ten members of the presbytery of Honduras. It will be a time for us to get better acquainted, to worship together, and to share our common vision and ways of moving forward together. Click here for registration and information.

We hope to have 5 people from the Presbytery of Arkansas attending. Room and board are free, due to grants from Arkansas churches, the Synod of the Sun, and others.

Contact Philip Butin with questions.
Not-Your-Average Boundaries Training
The Presbytery is now requiring that all pastors and CREs take a boundaries course. The Synod of the Sun is offering two options. There is a two-part webinar through Leaderwise on February 6-7 from 9:30 until noon. A second option is a a 2-hour online course called “Clergy Ethics and Congregational Boundaries.”

Both options are free. Click here to learn more and register.

Around The Presbytery
Helping Hands at First, Mena
At First church in Mena, members of the congregation took Jesus words quite literally when he talked about taking care of “... the hungry, thirsty, stranger, poor, sick and prisoner” in Matthew's gospel. They created the Helping Hands Ministry and began doing ministry with those most in need in their community.

Game-Changers Cohort with Kay Kotan
We are living in a time of great opportunity for the church, but it will take great intentionality and some major shifts to take advantage of this opportunity. Grab your team of leaders and come experience this cohort group of three one-hour workshops unpacking game changers for the church in the post pandemic world.

Each workshop will be one hour of content followed by a 30 minute Cohort coaching session where you will assess your church’s current levels of game changing leadership and work towards creating a MAP (ministry action plan) to enact the needed game changing leadership strategies in your local church context.

Participants will need to watch the initial webinar and read the book Being the Church in the Post-Pandemic World. This work is best engaged by both the clergy and 4-6 leaders from their church.

There are no dates set at this point, but if your church is interested click here to email Charlaine Apsel at PRC (Practical Resources for Churches) to learn more and let us know of your interest so we can begin to plan.
